Hi, this happened to my friends wee boy and he done it for two weeks he was 1 also, he did give in and starting eating she said it started with like a biscuit and then yoghurt then onto meals! She just used to give him porridge in the morning before going so she knew he had ate then he’s eat a big dinner when he got home and had some supper and his milk xx
This makes a lot of sense to me it being about control, he can be a headstrong little boy and it feels like he’s on hunger strike 😆 I have held off giving him breakfast at home so far but I think I might have to give in next week! This is a good idea about starting with snacks, I think they offer toast a couple times a day but I might see if i can take in some yoghurt or something. Thank you 🙏
Is it the nursery food or food that you’ve packed because that can always make a difference. I know some nurseries don’t allow you to bring your own food but if they do and you’re not already doing that maybe try it for a week to see if it makes a difference xx
@Deborah yep that’s exactly what he’s doing! They are clever! Haha. Do they offer them cows milk at all? Wonder if he’d have that but yeah snacks might be a good start too xx
@Aaliyah it’s their food, though they do offer very similar things to what he eats at home, lots of pasta/stew/curry type dishes, but will see what they say if i suggest taking him something from home, thank you ☺️
@Abi this is another question I need to ask! Thank you this has helped put my mind at ease!
My son started daycare recently, he’s also almost one. We’ve been picking up earlier because he just refuses to eat there. When we bring him home he eats so much! I think it’s a protest. I also sent some meat pouches and snacks with him. (Have to be sealed). He has a little bit of that sometimes.
Are they feeding your son purées or solids? Because if your child is refusing solids when he is used to eating solids at home, they will offer him an alternative- possibly purées. This could set your child back meal wise because he might not be on the same track as he is at home. They should be more encouraging in the nursery.
My sister said my niece did these and she had to end up taking in pouches but after 2 months she started eating their food. It’s because food and sleep are the 2 things they can control so it may be he’s just still getting used to it etc xx
