We recently moved and

Husband only wants to get free or almost free used items (offer up/fb marketplace) even if I want to pay for it with my own money (I only work about 15 hours a week so it’s not much) but he doesn’t want me to spend my money and he doesn’t want to buy new things. Even when I find something on marketplace that’s a lil more “expensive” he doesn’t want me to get it. And what sucks is I need him to get it usually because he has a truck plus I’m pregnant. So most of the times I just end up ordering on Amazon without telling him, meanwhile fb marketplace has some good items but it’s not “cheap” enough for him. And when Amazon delivers he gets “mad” cause I bought new 😵‍💫 like bro wtf

So what stuff is he wanting cheap ? Cuz there a real problem with people posting items with bedbugs or fleas on there for cheap if your not careful at what your picking same thing with 2nd hand store with furniture or other large items that arnt easy to clean

You need to explain that’s it’s both your decision and buying stuff is all part of the experience. My partner wanted to buy everything brand new but there are definitely things that didn’t need to be e.g. pram… expensive and will be in for 6 months then will get a stroller… I would stress that things don’t have to be cheap but just a good deal and some things are worth forking out a bit more on. They grow so quick so I agree I could’ve saved a fortune not buying stuff brand new but I wouldn’t just go for cheap or free because it’s still your baby so you want things to be nice still

@Rhiannon right! Like baby crib, mattress!!!, double stroller, swings for baby 😩 new baby mattress is only about $50 I’m ordering that as soon as I get paid I’m not getting a used mattress for my brand new baby

@Emily exactly I’m all for a good deal too, the things that I want to get are not even that expensive. His thing is: we had our first baby and then decided to move to another state closer to family so we got rid of all the newborn stuff ofcourse, few months after moving we found out that I’m pregnant with #2. And he just sees it as a waste to buy new cause we already had all that stuff and got rid of it and now we have to get it again. Which I understand but ugh idk

Okay so the crib part get 2nd hand clean it well & buy a mattress since baby will use it for a while , a stroller can be 2nd hand also , swing can be taken apart and washed typically so that's a other 2nd hand but if you can't find a stroller 2nd hand then post in a Facebook group in your area for moms to see if anyone getting rid of one cheap or free , in my area there alot of free / cheap baby stuff on fb groups for moms/parents who are giving stuff away or selling due to baby out growing it , but don't get toys or anything the baby can put in there mouth 2nd hand inless it can be disinfected

@Rhiannon thank you!

My husband's income varies throughout the year and we've had some poor investments and times where we had to be frugal, but he's never made me feel like I had to search for free or cheap alternatives to everyday things. If anything I'm the one who's more frugal but it's probably because I don't work.

@Tiffany thanks for sharing this really helps…..
