Birth plan

I'm around 8 weeks away from my elective section for baby number 2. A lot of people in the month due date group are starting to think about writing their birth plan. I had a birth plan with my first who was a vaginal delivery, but wondering what sort of things should be included in a plan for an elective section...?

We had the option to play our own music, dim the lights, have aromatherapy oils, slow birth of baby, delay cord clamping. We could also drop the drapes when the baby was born, which was lovely (I couldn't see anything gory!) and my husband was allowed to stand and watch her being born. There might have been something else, but I can't think what at the moment!

We go to pick who cut the cord. If we wanted music during the section. Skin to skin choices. Who got to hold baby first. Etc

I would say to think about things like delayed cord clamping, skin to skin in theatre, if you want music playing and you can make your own playlist, if you want someone to take videos/photos, if you would like the drapes to be lowered so you can see baby as they are delivered , who you want with you in theatre, if you want birth partner to trim the cord, etc x

Birth plans are shite unless you have a planned c section 😭😭
