Nursery funding rate?!

My nursery have had a slight increase in their day rates and when I received my invoice for April I’m paying ALOT more than I would expect for this increase?! I queried why it’s a lot more money and they said as my son has just turned 2, the nursery funding rate is lower for 2+ year olds than 9-23 month olds? Has anyone heard of this? Sounds a load of rubbish

Yes I have heard that before

Yeah our childminder said the funding goes down as they get older

Yeah I've heard this before too

Funding rate is lower cos as children get older they need less support and the ratios are higher.

Yeh unfortunately it's true

My nurseries day rate goes up at age 2. We've worked out for my baby we'll be paying the same amount for 4 days as we pay for 2 with my step son who's 4.

@Nikki-Lee funny because funding started only for older kids… then now it’s younger vice versa

Surely they should have told you this before

Ours is the same

Why would it be rubbish?? My nursery has different day rates for under 2s, 2-3 and then pre school.

@Scarlett I didn’t know this did I?

Yep funding rate goes down the older the child gets Loads of nurseries/ childcare providers are closing because it’s not sustainable with all the new funding coming in and all the restrictions put on them as to what they can and can’t charge for Childcare providers being forced to sign the contracts as they have no other choice
