You can also contact maternity action . Org. Does your previous role responsibilities/ level / status change? Does this mean a demotion? You need more clarity.
@Natalie I have spoken to ACAS regarding my situation and have informed my HR team of this conversation. During that discussion, I explained that my maternity rights are not being respected. Despite raising this concern, I have not seen any meaningful response or action from HR, and my concerns continue to be ignored
@Naz Thank you - I will be getting in touch with Maternity Action for further support. My job title and responsibilities have changed, and while the company is trying to present this as something other than a demotion, I believe it clearly is. My managerial title and responsibilities have been removed, and I no longer have a team reporting to me. Previously, I held a role in which staff reported directly to me. Typically, the team structure consists of: Revenue Controller, Revenue Manager, Senior Revenue Accountant, Revenue Accountant, and Junior Revenue Accountant. Based on this structure, the change to my role reflects a significant drop in seniority
You could try “Pregnant then screwed”. I also had chat gpt help me with research and writing emails to my employers for my personal issues. If you want to stay in the job, it could be a little difficult getting it resolved. If youre happy to leave and find a new job, I would get some advice to raise a formal grievance for maternity discrimination. Monaco solicitors have decent free advice and templates on their website x
As long as your pay doesn’t go down with the demotion, I don’t think there is much you can do. If you take ordinary maternity leave (26 weeks) you have the right to return to the same job. If you take additional maternity leave (from week 27 to week 52) you have the right to the same conditions and pay as your old job but not necessarily your old job, the law is very wishwashy as to the reasons they can refuse your old job so a hard thing to fight. Xx
Hiya, I’m a solicitor but this isn’t my area of law. I would suggest speaking to ACAS as they should be able to offer you some advice for free. Solicitor fees can be very expensive so before instructing someone, ACAS should be your first port of call. Good luck xx
