I was measuring 16mm- 18mm at 22 weeks. I was given the option of a stitch but decided against it. I took progesterone until baby came at 36 weeks. Your cervix may be short but it could be strong too! Get some more advice but try not to worry the best you can.
Thank you both 🙏🏽
@Judith @Regina were you asked to be on bed rest? Did you stop travelling? Cancelled a trip I had this week but wonder if I will be able to travel again or better to avoid anything- will also speak to the doctor today… 🙏🏽
Hey, I am 25 weeks this coming Thursday and last week I also found out my cervix is shorter than 25mm with very slight funnelling, I have been advised to continue progesterone and have a rescan this Wednesday to assess and then work out a plan! In the meantime I have been advised to bed/sofa rest as much as I can at home and also on pelvic rest, no heavy lifting, limited stairs, no stress and trying to relax as much as possible (even though it’s incredibly hard when you are worried) , If on rest they said compression socks are a good idea too! did they advice progesterone or bed/pelvic rest? Xx
Ok so just out of the doctor… and my cervix today was 38mm… no idea how it fluctuated so much in 6 days but they told me to go home and just come back if I get cramps again
Wow that’s an incredible increase, did they say how that’s happened?
They said it can happen… but yea I was positively surprised too… I will have to go for another check in month unless I get cramps again
That’s amazing news!!! I am happy for you!
When i was pregnant with my son i found out at 22 weeks. I never got the stitches but was put on pelvic rest, no sex ect. And spent the rest of my pregnancy like that I was 80% effaces and 3 cm dilated by 34 weeks but managed to make it to 37+3 by being very careful and resting a ton. I was in the hospital for a few weeks off and on and had to stay with family in a city that had a good nicu if I did end up delivering earlier than expected. Was sent home a week before he was born. Honestly it was a best case scenario for me it could have been so much worse but everything worked out
@Elli so glad it worked, did you spend the majority of the day lying down on the sofa/bed etc? And what was your cervix length and did you have funnelling etc?
Yes I did, I can't remember off the top of my head the length at first, but there was definitely funneling, and by 30 weeks I had a length of 14 mm
I am so sorry it’s happening to you! It is too late to get the stitch but when I was diagnosed with short cervix I was prescribed progesterone pessary and was told some women just stay on them and some have to get the stitch (I was 20w pregnant) unfortunately they didn’t help my cervix and I had to get the cerclage but I was less than 20mm at 20 weeks. So talk to your doctor! Also no sex, no orgasms, no heavy lifting. Drink plenty of water to avoid the risk of having contractions from dehydration! I would probably call the office and ask if there is anything else. In my situation my cervix measured the same for 2 weeks and remained closed but on week 3 I was 2 cm dilated that’s when I was rushed to the hospital to get the stitch. But my OB told me that out of all of her patients with short cervix only a half need the stitch! Good luck!! 🍀
