My LB still doesn’t like nursery

He’s been going since he was 17 months old so over a year now. Same nursery but has moved up the classes as he’s grown older. He never gets excited or wants to go to nursery, still gets upset/tearful at drop off most days and always tells us he’s sad at nursery. He doesn’t seem to have any “friends” and just plays by himself (from the glimpses I’ve seen of him through the window just before I’ve picked him up). All my friends’ kids love going to nursery but my LB just doesn’t seem to like it. But when we speak to his carers they always say he’s had fun and played with the other kids etc. I don’t know who to believe and whether we should be moving him to a different nursery. Any advice?

Hey no advice, just to say we’re in the same boat. My little boy is such a happy friendly little fellow with our friends, but Frequently says “no no nursery” or “I was sad mummy and daddy left” that being said, they always say he’s had a nice time! I never know quite what to make of it all but don’t have the luxury of spending all my time with him! X

@Maddie thank you for replying. It’s really tough because nursery waitlists are so long so we can’t pull him out of his current one to “try” a different one to see if it makes a difference. Hope they find their stride soon x

It’s so rubbish, but from what I’ve seen on drop offs only a handful of children seem to be happy going in xx

Could you try a childminder for a day or so? Maybe they’d like a more home like setting.
