For non christian moms- how do you explain Easter to your kids? Or do you just not celebrate? I want to get my kids an Easter basket or do an Easter egg hunt still, idk

I have no problem explaining the meaning behind its Christian history, I am just not Christian or religious myself.

My mom calls it a spring celebration!! We still do a hunt and everything else(which never made sense to us in a religious relation anyways)🥰

We don’t celebrate it, they don’t even realize they’re missing out on anything honestly 🤷🏻‍♀️

We celebrate spring. We’ll spent the day outdoors celebrating spring and the sunshine (were in CA so plenty of sunshine every yr). We do the egg hunt because its fun and they get Easter baskets with some fun items and practical items since we spend a lot of time outside (for example this yr I included bunny bandaids)

Oh wow I love all of these ideas thank you ladies

Kinda feel like that’s celebrating Hanukkah and not being Jewish and coming up with something random to justify getting presents for 8 days. I’d be honest about the holiday and explain the meaning of it if you are going to choose to celebrate it.

And by explain it just tell them that there are those that believe in a man that saved people from their sins by dying and resurrecting 3 days later. If they have had no experience with Christianity keep it as simple as possible. Or do it with a Christian family that celebrates Easter. I was lucky to have a very diverse group of friends growing up so I was able to be present during passovers, kwanza, Eid etc and it really taught me a lot

I have a 3 year old and we just haven’t done anything. But I really want to start traditions celebrating the seasons. Like May Day and Yule

Easter is originally a pagan holiday…it doesn’t matter what you are or what you celebrate..i like to celebrate it because its about the goddess of fertility thats what the eggs and bunny represent..i think its fun doing the egg hunts and getting together with friends and family
