Baby sounds congested when lying down and after feeds

My LO is 8.5 months old and has had minor colds on and off for the last month. He seems to have recovered apart from having nasal congestion when he’s lying down (especially when he first wakes up in the morning) and after a feed (he’s ebf). There’s no mucus or anything in his nose - his nostrils are clear. They just sound blocked. I’ve used saline and the nasal suction thing but nothing comes out. The GP listened to his chest and said it’s crystal clear and that he may just have a bit of a virus in his nose. It’s been over 2 weeks now. He’s totally fine in himself and only happens when he’s lying down or after a feed. Anyone’s LO had the same/similar?

Yeah my little dude is in the same position!! I would continue sucking and saline as it might still be helping to budge what’s there! Maybe try some snuffle babe on his chest? Or a calpol plug in? The calpol plug in is great but the refills are spendy so snuffle babe is great on a budget ☺️

Yes, mine has been congested since February. Took him to GP, they said to record videos as evidence because ENT specialist won't get him in without. I had his tongue tie divided at 8m because this can be one of the cause but it wasn't that. Now I am seeing a private ENT next week, otherwise he won't get seen by anyone. The help available is atrocious and unless you can provide evidence that it's bad, no one in NHS is gonna listen to you.

@Kat thank you! We’ve been using the Calpol plug and we used snuffle babe when he actually had a cold. I’ll use that again and see if it helps! Hope your LO gets better soon x

@julie thank you! That’s really useful. My GP didn’t mention ENT referral. My son has a minor tongue tie but it has never affected his feeding or anything so we were advised that he doesn’t need to get it snipped. I’ll definitely look into this and ENT. Hope your LO gets better soon x

They also didn't mention ENT specialist. I pushed for it but still they said unless it's bad, he won't get seen for months. They also didn't divide his tie because it was mild but what they didn't tell me, it caused his high palate and sleep issue where his tongue doesn't rest on his roof. Basically, NHS told us half truth and I had to research everything else myself. I spray Sterimar and use calpol every night since February just to help him less bunged up but they don't eliminate the issue
