Heart condition & labour

Hey. Currently 16 weeks pregnant. Looking to see if anyone has the same as me and how their labour went- So I have inappropriate sinus tachycardia (fast resting heart rate) and a soft heart murmur due to an immune response to the Covid vaccine a few years ago. My heart rate rests around 100 and as soon as I stand up increases by 30bpm. Does anyone suffer with this too or have anything similar and (how) did it affect your labour & delivery? Never been anti vax but now worried to take more vaccine eg. Whooping cough incase it causes something else. 🥺

Hey! So I’ll try to make a long story short 😂 I have pulmonary artery stenosis (from birth) and I’m on my second pregnancy. I gave birth fine first time around with close monitoring. This time at 14 weeks I fell ill with influenza A and a lung infection and was hospitalised for a week. I’m now 25 weeks pregnant and my BP and heart rate has been all over the shop (when unwell can rest at 150 and still now when I’m moving can easily be 130 bpm) I’ve been having weekly appointments and lots of tests etc. They’re currently unsure on my labour (for a handful of reasons), may be natural, may be C section or even possibly an induction. But if you’re worried have a chat with your midwife. I’m really sure that if they believed something could cause harm they’d get you consultant led and keep a close eye on you. But I suppose I’m just saying - my first pregnancy / birth was fine! Even with a heart condition!

(I also had the flu jab while pregnant, whooping cough and will be having the RSV!)

I have the same (but not due to the vaccine) and the doctors have kept me on bisoprolol to control my heartrate as the cardiologist agrees it’s safe in pregnancy. My last pregnancy they made me stop taking it in the beginning but I was struggling with my heartrate (mine can go up to 150/160bpm resting) so they put me back on. It was controlled during labour and they monitored my heartrate the full time as well as baby’s heartrate too. The only problem I had was that they gave me dihydrocodeine and that made my tachycardia very bad (bad reaction)

Thanks so much! Oh no! I currently have a horrible cold and my heart rates sitting at 125 resting 🙃 I have a consultant appointment Tuesday next week. Hoping they will monitor me more for peace of mind. I’m not against a c section with my partner being in the army so I’ll have chat about my options. So glad your first went well and good luck with this one❤️
