Severe tantrums

Anyone else’s little one going through a tantrum phase?? She just turned 5 but for the past few months it has been endless tantrums in the mornings and the afternoon/evenings and weekends. I feel like I’m losing my mind cause I just can’t cope with them anymore. I think she’s probably ready for school but that’s not until after the summer holidays. Every day is such a long battle, and it’s not just one thing that sets her off but literally any/everything!!

I'm confused as to why she is not in school already if she is 5 as they start at 4?

@Kimberley different country maybe 🤷🏻‍♀️

My daughter went through a tantrum phase and I gave her more responsibilities which seemed to help. She took charge of tidying her room and making her bed. She sets the table when we eat. She scrapes her plate and put her pots in the dishwasher. Not sure if this may help but worth a try, maybe

Oh yeah mine turned 5 in March and she has been a riot 🫠 so you’re not alone! She doesn’t start school until after the summer holidays either (I’m guessing you’re also in Scotland) I work in a nursery and this last term is always exhausting with the preschoolers! I come home and just want to lie in a dark room but I can’t because I have my own ones to deal with 😂

@Kimberley she loves getting chores and asks to help a lot and can be so so lovely and is very loving but it’s as soon as she doesn’t get her own way or she’s extremely impatient and if she can’t do something immediately she’s throwing things about and she’s had lots of various things to try calm her like the liquid timers, a rainbow card for breathing, cards to do body movements to help calm her etc. just too many big feelings in a little person 🥺

@Katrina hats off to you 😅😅😅

To be honest, I have never heard of any of these techniques that you have mentioned to try and calm her. I just explain why that behaviour is not appropriate and that she needs to be patient when she wants things, which works with her. I know all kids are different so I don't think I will be much help for you

I am in the same boat too morning afternoon and evening it's all tantrums especially if not in school. Waiting patiently is what a bit of a challenge for her
