I wouldn’t feel too bad at this stage - it takes up to 10 try’s of each vegetable for them to enjoy it. When I go food shopping I generally think about what I can introduce to my baby next - going to try stewed blueberries and Greek yoghurt on the weekend x
@Charley I just don’t want to give anything sweet at this stage, want to offer all the veg as per some of the research I’ve read. But I haven’t been shopping yet and that’s all I have in.
It is ok to give the baby the same food. It does not have to be different every single day. I gave carrot the first day, then potato the next day, on the third day I did not have anything else so I gave carrot again. That’s perfectly fine.
Have you got bread? Yoghurt? Pasta? Chicken? Meat? Eggs? It's ok to give sweet things, breastmilk and formula milk is sweet, it's not like they haven't tasted sweet before.
Don’t stress! I tend to give my boy the same thing for a few days in a row as I’ll batch cook one thing and then offer that for the following few days. There’s been days we’ve been out allll day, and he’s been too tired in the evening so we haven’t given him solids but it’s ok, like others have said food before 1 is just for fun and to learn and explore! We’ve predominantly done veg so far and a sweet potato or a whole courgette goes quite far for a tiny baby, or if I only have a little bit of a few different things in the fridge I’ll just whizz it all together (given he’s tried it separately first) x
@Charley how do you give pasta to a 6 month old?!
I would do every day but it doesn't matter if it's the same veg for a few days. You can use veg from the freezer if you have any in there too.
Boil it until it's soft and put it in front of them. The solid starts app is a good resource to tell you how to adapt almost any food and serve in an age appropriate way.
It's not a problem to have a break and not give something every day at the beginning. But depending on what you've got in the fridge, baby can have almost anything you're having. Most food can be modified to be baby safe. Check out solid starts app for advice how to modify your meals
