Can I extend my maternity leave? Is there a cut off date by which time I need to inform my work?
I'm due to return to work in late July after 7 months but I don't feel ready at all to leave my daughter. Is it possible to extend my maternity leave with 3 months to go? Do I have to let my work know by a certain date (for e.g 8 weeks in advance) or legally I won't have any claim to Stat maternity pay or they can fire me? Any advice please :)

I sent an email to HR a few weeks ago and they got back to me saying I had plenty of time as they only needed 6 weeks notice...
The gov website says 8 weeks notice is required: https://www.gov.uk/employers-maternity-pay-leave/notice-period I would think work places shouldn't be able to make you give more notice than that. They may allow less.
It depends on your company mine is 8 weeks minimum
It’s normally 8 weeks for any changes to return date
