Weaning 🥗

Since our November babies are either already six months or coming up to 6 months, I’m wondering where to start with weaning. First time Mum so I’ve never done this before. I’ve ordered her some bowls, bibs and spoons. I’m not too fussy how we feed her however I would like to do some baby lead weaning alongside pouches . I’m curious, what food you started your baby on best food brands for pouches and how you knew your little one was ready for food. My girl at the moment is opening her mouth as we eat our food and gets really angry when we don’t give it her🤣 however I do really want to wait until she turns six months which is another three weeks.

With my forst I biught the how to wean your baby book and I highly recommend. It mixes purees and blw and tells you what to do on tye forst 30 days

With my first we started at 5 and a half months but that was just baby porridge in the mornings. We had a few different flavours. Made loads of different purees at 6 months and froze them in ice cube trays. Would offer steamed veg bits and veggies puffs/rusks for blw. Don't think I used meal pouches until 8/9 months. Baby number 2 is 5 months on 27th and we've been just putting dabs of our meals on her tongue when we eat and she's super interested. Just need her to be a little bit more stable sitting!

We are in the same boat and thinking of starting a little bit earlier than 6 months, I am planning on making my own purées though as it’s much more cost effective and you can make them in batches and freeze rather than pouches. There are some great groups on Facebook to join and Ella’s Kitchen free weaning guide is good, I’ve just downloaded it today 😃

My way of thinking is if she was born at 37 weeks then she’d be 6 months now, girl math😂 I’m giving my little girl fruit and veg purées until she’s actually 6 months and then I want to go into blw. I made purées last week myself but I don’t want to go to a lot of effort when she’s exploring and spitting it out anyway. I will definitely do more home cooking when she’s 6 months old xxx

We started at 5 months due to baby showing all the signs of readiness and were just going through vegetables at the moment and giving her a few spoonfuls of puréed veg to try/explore - seems to be going well so far!
