I have my own lash and nail business which allows me to make extra money and I can work around baby napping or let nanny come round to look after him. There aren’t many jobs nowadays that allow you to work from home while looking after a baby hence why I did this

I'm on a thing called tanf but you only get that once a month what tanf is it's just the cash part of foodstamps

Outside of reselling your unused items/furniture in the house, reselling clothes on Ebay or Vinted, making and selling crafts, etc., there's not many ways SAHMs can make money on the side without having some sort of hustle beforehand or having some form of childcare to pursue the odd job. I've heard some are doing Uber, etc. But that obviously relies on you being able to drive and own a car. Did you work before baby and is there any way you can turn your old job into a small business by offering your services? It's not gonna make you quick cash, but have you not considered gaining some skills through free or cheap online courses? Google sometimes offer free courses and there's a few other websites that frequently have discounted courses for sale. The main issue with babies and jobs is time, they both take up a lot of time!

I don’t think your allowed to make extra cash whilst on benefits. I know people sell bits on Vinted but that’s about it

@Jay you can. They deduct 20p from every £1 you make over £600. The first 600 is ignored. That’s how they do it with my benefits anyway

@DeAnna Clemens TANF is not the cash part of Food Stamps. They may be loaded on to the same card, but regulated differently. SNAP/EBT income must be used on approved food items. Slightly less strict than WIC TANF income can be withdrawn. It is the least strict when it comes to usage. You’re approved to use it for what your kids need. Clothes/Food/School supplies etc.

The only way to make extra cash while on benefits is to not report it. But that is against the program guidelines. Once you report your income, your benefit amount will gradually decrease. Refer to your household income limits to know what your threshold limit is. Make some income but not too much is what I would recommend.
