For the working moms

Is anyone a server? How often do you handle cash or cards? I'm a server at a retirement home so I don't handle money there at all. But I'm thinking about picking up a second job being a server at an actual restaurant so I can use tips to put towards savings. But I tried handling money at a dollar store and it was kind of hard. Like I kept getting my math wrong when handing change back.

Id say 80% of my orders were card and everywhere I worked our computer/register would tell us the change so no math needed

I was for 7 years. Chili’s lol I bought a “cigarette purse” had a big pouch and a little in front. I used to keep the change in the small, bills in the top. Our computers factored in our card vs cash and what we “owed” at end of night or what they owed me at end of shift. I like it because it wasn’t just fishing around in my apron. And it was easy to pull change out of for checks too. Then computer does the math part for you

I was a server for 15 years. The computer does the math for you so it's all good as long as you can count money.

@Kat ❤️ that's the problem. I kind of struggle with counting money 😔
