My next appointment is 28 weeks but she said that'll be bloods and check up, only birth plans and home visit etc from 36 weeks. My sister is Wirral and her midwife did this from 16 weeks and helped arranged hospital visits and parenting courses, my midwife has said this isn't part of their service š¤·āāļø
@Alison I had both my babies at leighton (crewe), Its always been discusses way before 36weeks. I was under the home birth team with my second i didnāt end up having a home birth as i went into labour at a growth scan snd definitely didnāt have time to go home š Inform them that you will be discussing it ealier, if you do want a home birth then you need time to prepare considering going into labour anytime from from 37 weeks is a high possibility. a week wont be enough time x
Definitely should be discussed before 36 weeks. I was told home births need to be booked in before this. I had my LO at Chester.
Countess I had my son, was brilliant
There are beautiful water birthing units at the hospital too
Midwife wouldn't go through it with me either before 36 weeks. And I ended up having my son before we had that discussion. Good for you looking into things x
Iāve been having this debate recently because although Iām registered at Chester, Iāve found it very chaotic there when Iāve been to the clinic and theyāve missed a few appointments or tests I should have been offered. As such Iāve been able to explore my options at Wrexham, including speaking to a consultant there. So far, so good. My first was born at home because Chester wouldnāt let me come in, that being said, I canāt fault the care I received when I was admitted. Thatās also probably playing on my mind. I started having these doubts about 30 weeks and my midwife has been nothing but supportive about talking birthing options. Canāt believe yours wonāt! Did you not have to opt for a hospital at your booking appointment?
The midwife should discuss your birth preferences with you at your 28 week appointment definitely not as late as 36 weeks x
