Dry cough 5 years old

Hello ladies, my kid doesn’t have asthma or other respiratory conditions. But when he gets viral infections or bacterial infections, he has that post inflammation cough for few days. Mostly dry cough, when we ask doctors for cough syrup, we are always given with salbutamol puff. I am reluctant to use because of what we were told back in my country about the use of puff only for the conditions.. pls share your thoughts here.. thanks
