We have started with baby porridge which my daughter loves and actually keeps down really well (she has awful reflux with her milk!) and we tried pureed broccoli today which she was not a fan of 😂 she also loves to hold the spoon but often just shoves it down her throat or throws it on the floor. With my first, we would put ground coconut (allergy dependent) or even blended cheerios onto bananas etc to help with the grip so they weren't so slippery.
Just started in earnest. BD has been sneaking him tastes of our food for a while. Against my wishes as he wasn’t showing any signs of being ready and I don’t want him having a sweet tooth or all the extra salt but tbh, he was loving copying us so it may have helped his coordination if nothing else 🤷🏼♀️. BD is still annoyingly trying to run before we can walk with the weaning by giving him mixed pouches before we’ve introduced individual flavours and giving him far too big portions in my opinion or multiple servings a day. Baby is eating the puréed food fine but has dropped a bottle already (only 5mths and only been weaning a week) so I’m going back a step and trying to introduce the individual flavours with the textures. He gags on anything that isn’t smoothly pureed so I have puréed a bunch of fruit/ veg and will give him finger food of the same kind so he can get the texture and the taste.
Weve been weaning for a couple weeks with purees and melty sticks and rusks but last night for the first time my partner suggested blending up some cottage pie and our little one 6m on 10th may absolutely loved it he couldnt get enough 😂 he loves his food x
That’s normal, children explore with their hands x
