I have been taking my lead from my baby boy, if he is finishing his meal and still reaching for more than go for it.
@Annabel I don’t mean portion sizes. I meant adding in another meal into the day (eg we do lunch at the moment, then will add breakfast, dinner etc)
We're on 2, probably did 1 for about 3 weeks. He was probably ready for 2 a little earlier but we were on holiday so waited til we got back. He was eating a lot already, a full 6 month pouch or equivalent homemade so we added in meal 2 and he eats about the same amount again. Going to start meal 3 of just a finger food at dinner so he can join in with us but don't expect him to eat much then, other 2 meals are purees.
I just came back from the health visitor, I started weaning with purees once a day 5days ago, and she told me I could just do 3times a day and mash food with a fork instead of doing the puree way🤷♀️ But honestly, the amount of different advice is quite overwhelming
When I started weaning ( BLW) baby just ate some of wjat i was eating if he was awake and interested. So some days would have 1 meal and someday could have 4! Once he got more into eating and a proper nap time routine etc he was on 3 to 4 meals a day pretty quickly I'd day from around 7/8 months
My little boy was absolutely loving everything I offered him at dinner and demolishing it so one day I just tried him with something new at breakfast and went off his lead as to how much he wanted! Just try a small second meal and see how much they fancy xx
