Weaning remarks from family

Does your family already make remarks or comments about your preferred weaning method? I mentioned to my mom that we would start with non-sweet stuff so like cauliflower and broccoli but she was like no no they make babies gassy 😂 I think in many countries first weaning foods are apples and carrots because they’re easier on the stomach. But the doctor we saw in the UK was pro unsweet veggies. What is everyone hearing versus doing?

Never heard about broccoli/cauliflower making babies gassy.. broccoli was the first thing both mine tried and I didn't notice any extra gas afterwards 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s the same with us, and yes I also got all the comments, but I did my reading, decided in how I want to do it, and am confident in my decision, so these comments don’t really affect me. Still can be annoying tho😀 sometimes I explain why is this a recommendation here, sometimes just nod, depending whom I’m talking to. It’s a bit like with sleeping, many countries have different regulations from the UK, the amount of ppl trying to convince my to make my baby sleep differently…😀

I’ve been called a hippie, a health freak, all those types of names because I’ve started with only veg and no baby rice or apple sauce 🙃 they all got told to stfu very quickly 😂

Same , my aunt said bluegh why to give broccoli first , yucky , I gave my son mashed banana and he loved it 🙄

I haven’t done unsweet veggies only but have done veggies before fruit. We started with carrot then broccoli, avocado, sweet potato, and then a broccoli, cauliflower and white potato mix. After that we moved onto fruit but LO has actually preferred her veggies

I started with veggies for my now 2 year old. Broccoli was the first food she had. My mam at the time said “poor baby, torture” but now regularly comments on my nephew who won’t eat a single veggie and was weaned on baby porridge and sweet things. Compared with my daughter who will eat veggies off the plate first even if the plate has chips or pizza etc on. Could be a coincidence I guess but I’m confident I did the right thing in ignoring people and doing what I thought and will be doing the same this time round. My mam has already suggested giving my youngest baby rice as if she’s forgotten how I weaned before or something 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣

I started with veggies like carrot, sweet potato, peas, broccoli then I did fruits. I have tried butternut squash and parsnip now which she loves, I pre blend a mix of veg for lunch time now before her bottle at 3/4 x
