Breakfast ideas

Really struggling with breakfast for my 8month old. He refuses porridge, weetabix & eggs. I've tried various French toast recipes but again not interested. The only food I can get him to consistently eat is yoghurt, fruit & banana pancakes but I feel like I need to be offering some diversity in his diet! I'd welcome any ideas.

Hey :) my 12mo is similar !! Used to love all of those now gone off them, we have a lot of toast…..!! Your yoghurt fruit and pancakes sounds pretty good, think you’re doing great 🤩 I don’t have a lot of advice besides keep trying 🫣

My son didn’t like eggs as a baby. Now, he loves eggs as a toddler. As long as you get the baby to eat something, don’t be hard on yourself. They eventually come around.

Give him food that isn’t necessarily ’breakfast’ food… spaghetti bolognaise, chicken curry, ham sandwich. Babies don’t really care what food they eat and when.. I also tried to get my babies to try 100 different foods before the age of 1, it meant I had to think of new and different foods every day

Mine took until 12 months before she actually started to like scrambled egg/ omelette and I put lots of different things in it now . It took until then really to actually have a “good” breakfast. Yogurt/ pancakes/ fruit/ smoothie/ flapjack/ toast/ rice crispy/ weetabix balls ( mix with fruit or yogurt and roll together ) . Try dippy eggs , sausage / fritta . Even if it’s snacks like puffs/ biscotti it’s something ! Don’t worry about how much goes in

A lot of the time it does take many, many tries of offering the same foods until little ones actually choose to give it a try. Usually it’s just phases. I would just keep offering and offering, alongside foods you know he loves, one day he might go for the other things on his plate too 🥰 Otherwise, some healthy smoothies can be an amazing way of introducing some variety and “training” his tastebuds, although of course not too often since it doesn’t encourage chewing etc. I am such a fan of Annabel Karmel books, she shares so many good tips on this and lots of ideas especially for fussy eaters, I can highly recommend!

Toast with avocado or peanut butter. Chia pudding.

Today we had berry rolled Oats and potato - carrot-Oats cakes baked in the oven, still looked like pancakes so cut it into strips but it was very soft and fluffy on the inside. 🤩 other days we have porridge with yoghurt or pancakes either sweet or savoury. Avocado banana, or banana strawberry etc...

My little one is 15 months and loves a soggy warm croissant and banana or yoghurt bar. My son hates bread and eggs

Have you offered plain toast? If your kid wants to eat only yoghurt and pancakes, I wouldn't worry as they are getting at least three food groups in.

You could offer leftovers from dinner the night before if they enjoy those types of food?

My girl is 11 months and has a few diff things, including: Toast with butter/peanut butter Scrambled or soft boiled eggs, with sautéed potatoes and mushrooms Fruit pancake bites (I freeze batches) Homemade potato cakes/scones She won't eat porridge/weetabix anymore, basically won't let me spoon feed her anything 😑
