Normal day of eating?

Just wondering what others children are like at this age. A typical days food for my daughter (what she actually eats off her plate, I obviously give her more than this) Breakfast - half a banana & mouthful of scrambled eggs Lunch - lots of plain pasta, few bites of chicken, cucumber Dinner - lots of rice, couple of spoonfuls of curry Snacks - lots of berries/watermelon, couple of breadsticks/crackers, sometimes will eat little bit of cheese She has 2 cousins the same age who eat a lot more than this and really love food. Some days she will eat a lot of her meal but most of the time it’s just her picking off the plate

My daughter is similar but she hates rice and the most meat. Breakfastest overnight oats- she will eat a big bowl of this Weetabix or cereal- she will eat half a bowl of this Avocado on toast or peanut butter on toast- will eat one slice Crumpet with similar topping- will eat almost all of it Lunches Cream cheese sandwich- she will eat half a sandwich with two or 3 slices of cucumber Pizza- one quarter of a pizza and maybe 1 cherry tomato or half an avocado Dinner- if it’s pasta she will eat two bowls. Usually spag bol or mr organic lentil sauce She loves snacks! Has two mini soreens and loads of fruit throughout the day. Hope this helps

Your daughters eating sounds very normal to me x

Thankyou ☺️ I don’t know how they have so much energy off small amounts of food 😂

Breakfast: usually Rice Krispies or 1 block of Weetabix with blueberries, flaxseed and a tiny drizzle of honey. Will eat all of it. Lunch: Soup with roti - will eat all. Spag bol - will eat all. Hard boiled eggs with toast - will barely touch the bread, eats all the eggs and any veg I pair it with. Mince meat parcels/steak bites with veg - will eat all. Dinner: Cous cous/quinoa with fish and steamed mixed veg/broccoli - will eat it all. Pad thai - will eat all. Rice and peas with stew chicken/oxtail/lamb - will eat all. She’s a foodie in fairness, but all kids have different appetites. She really took to food when she was 10 months so we just used that opportunity to chuck everything possible at her. I more hear about kids not eating food more than they do, but I know it tends to even out around 6/7 years.

My daughters eating is worse! At nursery she will eat anything and everything and ask for more but at home she is so picky Breakfast- homemade smoothie to get some fruit in, i add oats and chia seeds too. Sometimes she will have 1-2 weetabix too, sometimes she wont have any Doesn’t usually want a mid morning snack at home Lunch jacket and beans, beans on toast, soup and cheese on toast or fairly plain pasta. Varies how much she will eat, rarely eats a whole portion. 1-2 yoghurts Afternoon snack, something like cheese spread and crackers or fruit pouch or more weetabix Tea similar to lunch. I always try with different foods but its rare she will eat anything else. She often doesn’t eat much tea and will ask for more weetabix before bed. I find it really frustrating as she was so good when she was weaning and would eat anything and everything. She now only eats veg hidden in sauces or soup and at the minute won’t eat fruit but asks me to buy it in the supermarket 🙄

We've just been referred to a specialist as we've offered him a varied diet but he has been fussy for over a year now. He will only eat plain pasta, rice, cereal, yogurt and bread. The only chicken he will eat is chicken dippers and occasionally will have a corn on the cob. He won't eat fruit or veg, only fruit pouches. I still offer him everything we have and he will never touch it. It's the same at nursery. Some days there he just doesn't eat at all. It's so upsetting 😭

@Shana your menu sounds fab..I am hungry at the sound of it.. Pass on some recipes - phad Thai?

@Shana my daughter use to love everything but has recently started getting picky, like only wanting plain pasta 😂 I’m going to mix up our regulars a bit, yours sounds lovely

@vicky the smoothie is a good idea, I might try that as she’s worse at eating in the mornings. Haha I hate to think the amount of money toddler parents must waste on food x

@Ru aww I can imagine, I hope they can help him quickly bless him 💕 xx

All children are different. My boys are both big eaters but theyre also big lads (99th centilers) theyre both very tall and normal weight for their heights. One of my boys does struggle with eating early in the morning befire nursery so i often put a spare breakfast in his bag for him to eat there. Im gonna try him with a milkshake/smoothie in a morning and see if he does better As long as theyre gaining weight, height and have lots of energy to play theyre having enough xx

Oh no, same at times! She’s started to say she doesn’t like sauce on her pasta, but we actually don’t pander into it, or give her plain pasta. We just tell her to lick it off or not to eat it if she doesn’t want it, but she eventually does. They have such bland tastebuds at this age and love beige, plain food! Wishing you luck x

@Sneha sorry hadn’t seen this! For Chicken Pad Thai: - Chicken thigh fillets - Rice noodles - Oyster sauce - Fish sauce - Tamari soy sauce - Tamarind sauce - Maple syrup (instead of palm sugar) - Bell peppers - Spring onions - Veg oil 1) Clean and dice your chicken thighs 2) On a clean chopping board, slice your peppers finely and chop up your spring onions 3) In a wok, get some veg oil and fry your peppers until they start to get soft, then add in your chicken until it’s browned 4) Boil a kettle and in a separate bowl, pop your noodles in and cover with water for 5 mins 5) In another separate bowl, mix together your sauces 6) Pour your sauces and noodles in the wok and mix all together for a few minutes - done x
