Ha, we gave my now two year old banana for her first food and we were even told the same thing as you by medical professionals. She most definitely is not picky and eats anything and everything I set in front of her from broccoli to sushi to spicy and everything in between.
I did start my 5 month old with avocado but that’s because his pediatrician recommended that specifically since he was not pooping terribly often.
I didn’t do that with my first kid and she eats good and always has. I did bananas for this baby’s first food lol I’m sure every kid is different
Every kid is different, but there is some evidence that babies have a sweet preference already since breast milk has a high sugar content. However, I think it's mostly nurture and if you incorporate a variety of food early then it probably won't matter what the first food was in the long run.
I also fed my twins bananas as their first food... They are 2.5 and eat onions, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, broccoli, celery, cauliflower, spinach, lettuce, mushrooms, asparagus, brussel sprouts etc with no problems. You'll be fine :) They just always eat what we eat. No special meals for them. And if they refuse it initially we just kept offering it
I think all babies are different. We started off with veggies but my son spits peas out regardless 😅
I did fruit first. I was aware of the “rule” but i personally think it’s stupid and made up to scare moms!
I did fruit first too just incorporate some veggies asap and you’ll be fine. She’s just five months I let her eat small amts of mango, banana, strawberries, avocado but veggies too like carrot, green onion, celery. She loves them all even the sour raw green onion lol
