Glucose test

Hi all, I’m doing my glucose test on the 30th and seeing if there’s any tips before going in or others experience with it.

My first I had it fine at 28 weeks was told to fast before hand and to only drink water. My current pregnancy I’ve already had it once and will have it again in 4 weeks and both times I will need to fast and can only have water before hand. If you get sick early or have to eat soon after waking up I recommend taking a snack with you so afterwards you can eat. I’ve only had the orange flavor and to me it tasted like flat orange soda.

@Megan the bad thing for me rn is if I don’t eat even 1 meal I get so dizzy and lightheaded. I drink lots of water. My dr said I can have an egg before hand but I’ll try to fast. So u can drink water? That’s good 😊

I haven't ever been told to fast for the 1 hour personally, I just try to not eat anything super sugary, and more protein than carbs. I usually do an egg or two and some ham. I actually had 2 pieces of toast too before my last one. And I always plan to eat right after the test since it can help with the nausea/gross feeling some people get from the sugar crash.

Just grin and bear it. I always opt to get it done first trimester because I had gestational diabetes once and gained 60lbs instead of 20 that pregnancy. I'm in the US and they have you fast like 6-8 hours (midnight night before)

i just took mine the other day! you got this :) i tried to avoid sugary snacks a few days leading up to the test and just had a bagel before. they don’t make you fast, but i couldn’t have water or eat during the 1 hour.
