Too angry to think. Water might have broken?!

My first pregnancy they broke my water in hospital. So I have no clue what it feels like. But im pretty sure my water broke tonight. Not much, so im not worried about fluid loss, and baby is moving fine. The problem is apparently this is how I find out my OB doesn’t have an after hours triage line. They want me to go to the hospital if theres an emergency or labor starts etc, and the hospital will contact their on call OBs. How am I supposed to know if its an emergency or not if I cant just call an on call number?!?! Im 34 weeks pregnant. If I were 37 id just wait for labor to start and call in the morning, but being pre-term confuses things, and I cant find in any of my paperwork any documents stating what THEY consider an emergency worth going to the hospital for. Baby is moving well and theres no signs of labor. But I think the issue would be if he decides to make a rapid appearance and I dont make it to the hospital hes at higher risk since hes pre-term. Idk if I wait out the night and call in the morning, or if I just go in now on the off chance theres an issue? Insurance nurse hotline said to go in, but I feel like thats a liability answer not a real answer. The BIGGEST Problem is my husband works nights and we have one car. And my support system is refusing to support and come watch my already sleeping toddler while I take myself into the hospital with their car. I never expected to be failed in this way, and dont know how I feel about letting this person have further contact with me or my family after abandoning me in this situation.

I am so sorry you're in such an aggravating and stressful situation. I've read that sometimes water breaking is just a trickle stream and other times it's like the movies where it's a huge waterfall (which is what happened with my last kiddo). I would say go in to L&D just in case cause better safe than sorry but I do not have good advice as to how to swing that with no car and sleeping toddler. I hope everything turns out okay!!

Weird solution: smell the fluid. If it smells like nothing then I’d go ahead and go to the hospital and get seen

I’m sorry it has you feeling this way. When I called mine, they told me to go to the hospital to get checked anyways. I was quite preterm though. If it doesn’t smell like urine or anything really, go to hospital. Put a pad on and if you keep leaking and it’s clear, go to hospital. If it’s yellow and smells, it’s pee. The amount you’re leaking is irrelevant if you should go or not. Also they can check at the hospital and tell you if it’s fluid or not.

Continuing to read - it isnt just what they consider an emergency but anything you consider too. A liability answer in pregnancy is still a real answer bc anything can happen in pregnancy and you wouldn’t want anything to happen to baby just as much as they wouldn’t want to be liable if something did. I’m sorry your support has you feeling some way. It’s okay to wait for the morning as it now is becoming. Even after I was decently sure, I waited 3 hours for mine to get a break at work to take me because we also had one car.
