Childminder running errands with children

There is a childminder I come across often when running errands. I find her in the supermarket, shopping mall, having a coffee with friends, all these while minding the children. She is usually with 2-3 children at a time and always in the stroller. Somehow it doesn't sit well. I would prefer it if my children were having a good time at the park or doing children activities at her place. What do you think about it? Do you share my thoughts? Or do you think she is free to do as she pleases as long as the children are fed and clean?

Yeaah I'm not sure I'd be ok with that. She's being paid for that and I wouldn't pay someone to go and have coffee with her friends. They're Ofsted rated so are an educational resource. In fact, I'd probably report her to them

It depends what has been agreed with the parents. A lot of cm do the school run. Some meet up with other childminders like the park and library. Think it’s more about balance.

@Karen but going to the park or library sounds like something appropriate to do with children. I would be OK with that. Funny enough I never find her at these places.

Our childminder asks if it’s okay to take our daughter to the doctor/shop to get a prescription etc. during the school holidays. Obviously I’m fine with that as she would have no time to go otherwise. I wouldn’t be happy with her just having a coffee with friends, unless she was at the park etc. as someone else said.

My childminder lives next to an aldi and sometimes takes them to get ingredients for food. I love this as it involves my daughter, it’s helping her recognise food, colours etc.
