I cannot even imagine rying to raise a baby while having this trauma in the back of your mind and I’m so incredibly sorry for your loss. There are so many things that you can give babies that as long as they are soft (either steamed or boiled) and cut correctly for their age, severely decreases chance of choking. Have you done any CPR classes for infants & small children to help mitigate some of the fear?

I’m so sorry for your loss. Truly. Your fear is completely valid! One thing that might help ease some of the anxiety during mealtimes is to create a simple safety checklist and keep it nearby while you feed your baby. It’s not about being perfect, it’s just about being prepared. This is what I did as a ftm. Keep your phone close by Have your LifeVac assembled and ready Make sure baby is sitting upright in a safe, stable seat. no distractions Remember the golden rule:
If your baby is coughing, gagging, or making noise, do not intervene!

Choking is scary for any parent let alone having experienced such a devastating trauma. Your child is fed feel no shame Here's a webpage also has video examples, very helpful, I learnt the skill of spitting out when struggling to swallow. https://solidstarts.com/gagging/

I wonder if meeting with a feeding therapist may help in some ways with allowing you to feel more comfortable. That has to be so hard. Also you can take a toddler cpr class (it’s different than infant cpr).

Hey mama! You are not a bad mom for wanting the best for your baby. You can take things as slow as you’d like, start with level 1 pureees! Just make sure baby tries a variety of different things as early as possible to make sure baby doesn’t get allergies. There is a high correlation between increased allergies to foods and waiting too long to introduce them:) that being said they do not have to be solid! Do some liquids, purées! And if you keep on BM or formula that’s okay! It’s great nutrition for baby and you can take it as slow as you need for YOUR family🫶🏼💕cpr classes are great, there are choking devices you can buy as well. I have both. I’m a nurse who worked in a stroke floor, where people forgot to swallow. We call it “advance as tolerated”. If your LO is great on liquids, try SLIGHTLY thicker. The likelihood of choking on liquids and not recovering from it is extremely low. Crush bites up super small as you progress! You’re doing an amazing job mama💕hugs🫶🏼

So sorry :(( Have you taken a CPR class? More knowledge on helping might provide comfort. Tofu, pasta cooked a bit longer, mozzarella cheese balls cut up, sweet potatoes.. I'm just trying to think of some softer foods!
