Not a frenchie but a bulldog. It was about $1800 i got it when my dog was a little over a year old. It was AMAZING at first. He stopped snoring and everything. Now, he snores again but I do think it improved his quality of life. Is it worth $1800 i'm not too sure, but I had pet insurance at the time so I only had to pay a fraction of that. It was part of the reason I paid for insurance in the first place.
I work in a specialty vet hospital and we do that surgery all the time. The price is going to vary depending on what part of the country you are in but expect to be spending anywhere from $2,000 - $7,000. There are possible complications, just like with any surgery but your vet should go over that with you. Your dog will need to stay overnight for monitoring to make sure the swelling stays under control and you will probably have to feed wet food for a little bit while the area heals. I have probably seen over 100 of these cases in the 9 years I've been working and I would say 90-95% of cases have a significant improvement in breathing. If you can't do the surgery right away be very careful in the heat (no long walks, make sure the AC is on at home, etc) and make sure you know where the closest 24/7 emergency hospital is just in case. I hope everything goes well for you and your dog, if you have any questions feel free to message me.
Not my Frenchie, but I work at the vet and we had to do an emergency referral. One Frenchie came in for her spay, but I guess she got stressed before the procedure started, and she literally turned blue and went into respiratory distress. She was sent to a specialty ER and had that surgery performed. I haven’t seen her yet but I think she’s ok
