Should I be concerned?

I’m 23 weeks and 2 days and my fatigue has been so bad today. I can barely function. My belly feels heavy but baby has not been moving as much. Found baby’s heartbeat on a at home Doppler though. Should I be concerned?

For the tiredness, maybe ask your OB/Midwife about anemia. A friend of mine experienced low iron levels, which caused extreme fatigue, as she entered into the 23ish week. I’ve also been feeling increasing levels of fatigue (26 weeks) and will be having my iron checked by my Midwives to see if I need a supplement. (Do not take a supplement unless a blood draw confirms you’re anemic—if you don’t *need* iron, supplementing is unhealthy.) For movement, I don’t know if I would be super concerned at 23 weeks… Baby is still real little, so you may just be having a hard time feeling the movement they are doing. Do you still feel movement daily (even if not as often)? Finally, do you have easy access to your OB/Midwife? These sounds like good questions to ask them. ❤️

I would say if it’s here and there it’s not worrisome. Pregnancy takes a lot out of you and fatigue is super normal. Just today I was so exhausted I had to take a nap at 2pm because I couldn’t get through the day. I agree with Abigail though if it’s increasing daily fatigue I would get my levels checked including iron and vitamin D. As for baby, kick counts don’t start until 28 weeks, so I wouldn’t be worried about feeling less movement right now. They’re still so small they can move without us feeling it

Another obligatory "message your ob" if you feel concerned -- but my 2nd tri energy levels took a deep dive at 22 weeks. I think it's normal to go through ebbs and flows of fatigue/energy. Keep hydrated and happy :) Sending good vibes 💕

Don’t use the Doppler as a tool to check on baby if you feel something is wrong it’s better to actually go get checked out. Was told that by a Obgyn and that anything could be happening and using the Doppler could give a false sense of everything being okay. That being said fatigue in the second trimester is very common and for the most part is nothing to worry about. For movement baby is still little and it can still be hard to feel it all the time they normally dont start having you do a kick count until about 28 weeks when baby is bigger. If you want to have baby move drink some cold water or orange juice and lay on your side and that might get baby to move. With that being said of you are still worried I would call or message your ob your questions and they abound be able to help a lot more.
