It's definitely a great thing as long as the habit doesn't follow baby in to toddlerhood. I say this out of experience. My 3.5 year old daughter sucks on her fingers to put herself to sleep and when she's upset. She has no oral issues other than developing a slight overbite. If it were a pacifier, I could wean her from it. But since it's her fingers, I can't exactly cut them off to help her wean. My son has found his fingers. It's cute for now but I keep shoving a paci in his mouth
I pick my battles and thats one im not fighting my baby on lol he’s just exploring new things and because he’s teething I put the orajel on my finger and let him suck on mines to calm him down 🤷🏽♀️ I think the concern is for when they are older , not a baby that doesn’t even have teeth yet
You should let baby, as everyone else said it's part of their development, exploring their hands and also learning hand and eye coordination for when they start solids
Just like pacifiers and bottles, my understanding is that this is more a concern for toddlers and older infants as their teeth come in. Like a two year old sucking on their hand and thumb and pacifier is more of a concern.
