That’s not the hook effect. The hook effect is when you get a negative result because you have too much HcG for the test to register. Your test was still positive even though it wasn’t as dark. But that can be from a natural variation in your urine HcG level, especially if you’re testing at different times of day. Blood tests are much more reliable.

@Amanda I think it can happen anytime after 5 weeks. By then some people may have very high HcG levels. It needs to be over like 500k for it to register as a false negative so it’s pretty uncommon.
I'm not sure what the reasoning is but I read if you then dilute your urine it will be more accurate which I did and then got my dye stealer again. 🤷♀️
@stephanie That makes sense because the hcg is too strong for the test but adding water will make the concentration less and detectable. Great idea!
