@Lesley thank you so much!! They’ve put me on higher doses for meds and midwife has put me on aspirin to try and reduce the risk of preeclampsia. I’m a nervous wreck lol!! She said I’ll have more growth scans from about 30 weeks so what you’re saying sounds right 100%. I was always worried I couldn’t get pregnant due to my weight issues but now I actually am I’m worried about how it’s gonna affect my baby xx
I'm high risk as I have a high BMI, high blood pressure and I am a type 1 diabetic. I think I find the fact that they monitor you closely reassuring, you get more appointments, more scans and more checks. I have had scans at 8, 12, 20, 28 weeks and will have scams at 32 and 36 weeks.
Lol not scams... scans!
I’m high risk due to having twins, so automatically at risk for preeclampsia and other risks. Don’t worry ppl are high risk for all different reasons. Try to see it as a positive that you’ll get some extra monitoring/ attention (that’s what I’ve been doing). The type of twins I’m having (mcda) are also the more high risk type of twins so I see a dr and am scanned ever other week. I just try to see it as a good thing that I’m getting lots of extra observations x
@Abigail yeah that’s true!! At least more checks to be safe. Congrats on twins!!!! X
I was high risk with high BMI and high BP when I was pregnant - feel free to drop me a message 🙂 x
I’ve had high BMI & BP my whole pregnancy. I’m 38 weeks now & me and baby are all fine and healthy🥰 try not to think the worse xx After 35 weeks I started to have midwife appointments twice a week just so they could keep an eye on my blood pressure. There is medication they can put you on for blood pressure and can induce you from 37 weeks in needed xxx
I was high risk due to type 1 diabetes, yeah, the hospital appointments were a pain, towards the end of my pregnancy, I was at the hospital with the diabetes team twice a week. Away from the diabetes team, I actually quite liked it, we get more scans, I can’t imagine only having 2 scans! I had one at, 8,13,20,26,30,32,34,36 then was induced at 37. X
@Lucy idk why I have a weird feeling baby will come a few weeks early. How’ve you found the pregnancy so far xxx
@Karen the thought of more scans does reassure me a little so they can keep an eye xx
I had a high risk pregnancy with my son, now 13months, because of age, weight, slightly high bp, first pregnancy over 40... The extra monitoring helped reassure me SO much. While yes, there are more risks, it's still best to proceed with the belief that you are having a perfectly healthy pregnancy, and if something should shift in the data, that's when we face our options, but so so many high risk pregnancies turn out completely fine! Meditation, keeping active with walks, and positive affirmations really helped me focus on the good and not let the stress of the bad creep in.🫶🏻💜
@juli this is so reassuring, thank you 💖💙
Of course, happy to hear it! Best wishes and congrats to you mama!
I am overweight but have great vitals, wondering if that has kept me from being declared high risk?
I ended up being high risk due to having steroids when I was 9 weeks and got admitted for 3 days due to hyperemesis and ended up on 4 different meds to manage my sickness, they did extra scans from about 32 weeks to make sure baby was growing okay. They regularly check your BP anyway at midwife appointments and it's good to keep an eye on it the further along you get in your pregnancy due to pre-eclampsia risks, mine always fluctuated a little bit higher but had no problems with it at the end of my pregnancy. If you've still got concerns speak to your midwife about why they've classed you as high risk and what that means for you going forward in your pregnancy, their there to support you in your pregnancy x
