I did use the prep machine but found my girl spitting up quite alot therefore use the kettle I boil the kettle leave for half hour pour in the oz in bottle and then powder and swirl works perfectly I make the bottles up for the day so only have to take out from fridge and put in hot water to warm up
There are guidelines you can follow on the nhs website
i use fresh water from the kettle 20 mins after boiled
@Maisie how long do you put in hot water for it to be warm enough? I guess it’s down to baby preference on temperature
@Jessica I was looking at the Nuby. Do you need 2? I saw it takes ages to reset?
@Sian boil and make bottle and wait 20 or boil and wait 20 and make the bottle? And whole bottle with the kettle water?
I always use boiling water and let it cool. It usually takes around 40ish mins to cool on its on. X
@Lana we had Kendamil in hospital but went to Aptamil when we got home and switched to SMA Pro as Aptamil was leaving chalky residue on her tongue. Not sure whether to switch formula first or method first.
I mean I’m EBF but have the prep machine just in case and for later on, ladies who said there babies spit up using that than using boiled water, why is that? 🤔
@Michaella it doesn’t follow NHS guidelines in that it does a hot shot, you add formula and mix and then it adds cold water so it’s immediately drinkable, rather than all boiled water
@Olivia i boil it then wait 20 mins before making the bottle
@Olivia yes the whole bottle i dont do hot shot or anything the whole lot is hot boiling water 👍 i make 5 bottles at the same time then put them all in fridge x
We use boiled water from kettle but use the nuby cool to cool it. Takes like 2 mins to get to perfect temp x
You obviously can add powder too but we only use nuby cool for the water and then add the powder in after xx

We use the nuby rapidcool which cools the water down super fast! Just need to leave it 3 hours before using it again so that it can cool down properly ready to cool more water :)
@Chels as in you mix it in the bottle with some boiling water and then cool the rest and mix it?
@Sian doing this now but struggling to get it cool enough to give her. Should have done this where I had more time to experiment as we’ve gone over 3 hours and I’m distracting her with Hey Bear whilst I run it under cold water
At night I have a normal flask of boiling kettle water for the hot shot and a nuby flask of cooled boiled water, don’t need to cool it down as it’s already done. I get about 2 bottles out of this method so would definitely work in the day x
@Olivia I boil the water and leave for half hour before putting water in bottle as on nhs website it's at the temperature can't remember what number temperature though and if it's still to hot for little one single run the bottle under cold water
What we do isn’t necessarily the recommendation but it works for us - when I sterilise the bottles I add half the amount of water needed (e.g. 3oz for a 6oz bottle) in boiling water and let it cool. When baby wants the bottle I top up with boiling water and add the formula so it’s the perfect temperature straight away. My girl goes from fine to ready to eat my arm off in 30 seconds so needed a quick solution to making bottles 🤷🏼♀️ as I said, it’s not recommended but works for us
Fresh boiled water and into a nuby rapid cool! All done in 5 mins!
@Chloe yeah that’s where the Perfect Prep works well for us, she has no chill when she’s hungry, and then when she gets too upset it’s impossible to give her the bottle as she is choking and gagging. Did it the proper way tonight and she still threw up twice during feed when burping so not sure if any difference yet
@Olivia yeah I looked into the prefect prep but the stories of mould etc inside them put me off! My method works for us so I’ll carry on as we are 🙂
I put half hot half cold boiled water
I’m ebf and he’s having 1 bottle of formula a day so I use boiling water from kettle. But when he’s on more bottles a day I’ll add 2/3 oz boiling from kettle to mix the formula with then top up with cool boiled water I keep in a flask. Did that with my first and it worked well.
So I either use the prep machine or I’ll use the kettle and fill a jug of water and just place the bottle in the jug and it only takes about 2 mins x
@Jessica I’m fan of the nuby! I don’t put the formula in the cooler so I don’t get it smelly, only water goes in it and I just pop in dishwasher every other day!
@Olivia sorry didn’t see this! So boil the kettle full of water, fill up the nuby cool with however much oz I need when it’s boiled. Wait for it to cool and pour into bottle then add the powder after and shake xx
My LO struggled with the prep machine. So I move on to the nuby rapid cool and it works great and there is very little waiting for it after boiling the kettle
