Sterilising mam bottles

Hi ladies I don’t know if it’s me doing something wrong, but 2 microwaves have broke now within days of starting to sterilise mam bottles in them. I fill the bottom with the water, place the teat on top, screw the main body on and put the lid on top. And put it in the microwave for 3 minutes. But it’s caused 2 microwaves to brake (one microwave didn’t even last a day, and the other not much better) and melted the base of some of the bottles…. Any ideas??

I have mam bottles and haven’t had a problem, however I do know someone who made the mistake of screwing the main body on and it caused her microwave to spark. Says in the instructions to just place the components together, no screwing, so possibly that is the issue?

@Charlotte thank you. I’ll try with another one later and see what happens.

What Charlotte said, you don’t need to screw them together just place on top of each other x

I’ve just got a Milton bucket and it works great tbh. Just put 1 sterilising tablet in and fill it with water. I didn’t trust putting them in the microwave because I did it for the 3 minutes and it was making some weird noises

@Robyn Taylor my partner’s cousin has gave us a tommee tippee steriliser so I’ve been using that for most of them now. The second microwave is working again now but I don’t know if I want to risk putting a bottle in there again

I also use the milton cold steriliser, saves on electricity and water lasts for 24 hours too 😊

We used them for 12 months with our first and never had a problem. Definitely don’t screw anything together before you put them in the microwave. If you do your bottles in batches the electricity used by the microwave is cheaper than Milton tablets.
