This happened to me too, only discovered I needed to descale it when the light came on.Don’t feel bad, I’m sure your little one has been fine x If it’s the Tommy tippee one I found this online, it suggests to use vinegar. I use tescos distilled vinegar, it’s 29p per bottle. They advise doing a cleaning cycle once a month but you only have to descale it when the light comes on. Theres advice online on how to do it. I’m using the same one i used for my daughter 4 years ago and the whole time i used it for her, the descale light never came on. It came on about 6 weeks after using it with my current baby

This was me a few weeks ago, I felt so awful, if you YouTube it you can follow it on there. My prep machine didn't work for a day after I did mine though so I'm scared to do it again x
