Ivf stim- gonal f

So I am starting my first cycle of ivf & will start gonal f today (27th) - what time would you recommend? My husband goes to work at 5.30pm every days- was thinking to do at 5pm so he can administer for me (not big fan of needles 🙃) any advice pain wise and how to get many good quality eggs?

I put 2 ice cubes in a Ziploc bag and kept it in the freezer and used that to freeze the area every day before injecting - the numbness helped! Good luck x

As long as its within the time frame your clinic set, its fine, my gonal f was between 6pm and 10pm, I didn't use anything for pain, the needles on the gonal pens are really good so you don't feel them but you can use ice if required x

Thank you guys!

Jus seen both of your profiles- congrats on ur pregnancy & hope u both have healthy pregnancies and have ur babies in ur arms- send ur babies dust this way 💁🏽‍♀️🤞

The needle is tapered (well mine was 😂) I found putting in at a slight angle help. I did the ice cube thing, worked for the needles going straight in however I found it more painful with this one. Made the skin to tough. Not the nicest of needles however a few tweaks make it better. Good luck.

Is yours also in a pen form? I have to say Gonal F was my ‘nicest’ one and went in super easy. Which I could say the same for the rest of one. Definitely pinch a bit of skin to put it into, you got this x

Ahh wait sorry I was confusing the fyremadel one! Yes the Gonal F is better and in a pen. So many drugs! 😂

@Nat fyremadel not fun!! Neither is Clexane/blood thinner (my personal worst) !!

@Suzie eek yeah defo not fun. 😂

Emla numbing cream from boots worked really Well for me. I put it on about an hour before each injection

@lynne second this! EMLA cream around an hour before. Ivf is painful enough as it is, take all the help you need to get through it!🙌

@Henna it's a life saver

My clinic advised between 6-9pm I do mine at 8:45 as I know I’ll be settled by then and I can relax after I’ve done it. I use an ice pack for 5 mins on my belly beforehand and that helps with the sting.

My clinic told me 6pm every day

Hi @Sabzx I started injections on Tuesday 🙌🏽 my clinic advised to do them between 6-8pm but once I’ve picked a time to stick to the same time throughout the cycle (I think this becomes important when you start the down regs as they have to be 12 hours apart). But different clinic may recommend something more in line with your case. As said above gonal-f is the ‘nicer one’ it’s the less phaffy and it hurts the least. The needle is pretty thin, and it’s a little scratch. When I first did ivf I used a numbing spray. Now I’m just quite used to it! Good luck with the injections and your cycle ahead

Hey yes gonal f is pen form but got ganirelix which is pre filled string! So not too bad than I thought! Thanks guys! Good luck to you all :)

@Sabzx that was the same medication as I had, the gonal f is absolutely fine you will hardly feel it, the ganirelix is abit thicker so look close at the needle to find the pin point and go in first with that, it can sting a little but you will soon get used to it. Good luck 🍍 x
