Nuby rapid cool

Bought nuby rapid cool to swap from pre made to powder 4 months down the line šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø am I doing something wrong? It’s so hard to get the powder in the bottle without getting some round the top then when it’s ready there’s still some powder in the middle of the lid that’s not mixed properly is this right? I know a lot of people do the hot shot method but I don’t want to do this. Also the measurements in both my nubys are an oz less that my mam bottles??

Hi Sara, I found it hard to use too but saw a wee hack on TikTok… I just use the rapid cool to cool the water only… my LB takes 8oz… so I measure out 8oz of hot water into my Mam bottle… then pour 6 out into the rapid cool… then when it’s cooled and green on the top I put my powder into the hot water in my mam bottle… shake it up so it kills all the germs then pour the cool water from my rapid cook in and hey presto… all ready… you might need to play with the measurements a little if your LO is on less ounces as it may still be too hot but that what we do. I’ve also made it in the bottle first then poured the mixture into the rapid cool and cool it in there so there’s no stress of it being all dissolved etc so that could be another option too… but cleaning the rapid cool is a pain and if I do it the other way I can get a few goes out of it before I need to give it a wee scrub! Hope this helps xx

Thanks @Cheryl1 I prefer to make in rapid cool as I tried to make in bottle and it left the bottle way too hot and it’s the way the instructions state to do, I’m a bit anxious lol. Do you also find that once you add the powder the volume of liquid increases? So I put in 7oz of water then after powder it’s about 7 1/2 oz? Xx

I pour boiling water into mam bottle then most in the rapid cool leaving about 2oz I then add the powder into the water left in the bottle and mix it up but then I leave the lid off the bottle while the rapid cool cools the water so it’s not still too hot when I mix it all together and as for it being a bit more it’s because the powder adds abit of volume to it xx

Aww then maybe make it up in the bottle and cool the made mixture in the rapid cool which will solve the powder in the rim! Yes it will move up in ounces as there is formula in there but don’t worry that’s normal and you don’t have to put less water or anything in and when anyone asks how much they’re taking… it’s still 7oz! It so hard not worry as we’re trying to do everything right and still finding our feet we’re doing great and I’m very sure your baby is happy as Larry! Xx

You could measure your water in to the bottle and then add it to the nuby, put the powder in and shake it up in the nuby before you press the button to cool x

I pour the hot water into the mam bottle first, measure out 7 oz for example, add the powder, shake it then cool it down in the rapid cool. I’ve never tried the hot shot method either x

@Aimee when I did this the mam bottle was super hot for ages after, is yours hot after to? X

I found the bottle felt hot but not uncomfortably so. I always check the temperature of the formula on the inside of my wrist before giving to my baby x

@Aimee ok thank you might give that a go again then xx

@Sara do you use the formula pots that come in the set? They do seem get the powder in better. Also just make sure the lid is on tightly & try shaking by turning the rapid cool around to check all the powder is dissolved x

Hey sorry to jump on how do you sterilise the rapid cools. I have some second hand and want to use them but I have no instructions x

@Emma you can only cold water sterilise… you can use Milton. Obviously do whatever you’re comfortable with- my baby is 5 months now so I don’t sterilise the rapid cool anymore as I’m putting hot water into it but appreciate because its second hand you want to!

@Emma this is the link for the digital manual for the rapid cool https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0644/7143/3430/files/30131_CWY_UK_RAPIDCOOL_KIT_LEAFLET_2022_outlined_copy.pdf?v=1677148143. There are other ways to sterilise but I personally think cold water sterilising is the easiest

Thank you ladies 😁 x
