Nuby Rapid Cool

I was planning on using the nuby rapid cool to formula feed baby, as lots of other mams seem to be doing. The way i was planning on doing it was adding the hot shot to the forumla kill the bacteria into the bottle followed by the remainder of the boiled water into the rapid cool, then once drinking temp into the bottle. The health visiter came out today and said that hot shot is not guaranteed to kill any bacteria and all boiling water must be mixed in not just a hot shot. Has anyone else been told this? Iv watched millions of tik tok vids on making bottles with the rapid cool and thats the way they all do it also.

I’d take her comment with a pinch of salt tbh, I’ve found that health visitors all seem to say something different to each other! Ive never heard anything about it not being safe x

I wouldn’t go off tik tok always go to a professional and take their advice don’t follow what others do that’s just my opinion

Most mums I know do the hot shot method as did I with all 3 of mine and my health visitor never questioned it, as said I think they all say different things. But i would do 2 ounces of boiling water as my hot shot so it was a bit more water when my little ones were on bigger amounts xx

I do it like that and have since she’s been a newborn. We’ve never had any issues x

I’ve always been paranoid about the hot shot method and just used fresh boiled water as annoying as it is to keep cleaning 🙄

I have the rapid cool and follow the instructions on the box. That way if something does go wrong I’ve followed manufacturer instructions. People also use the hot shot method to avoid cleaning out the flasks but I don’t think it’s that bad. Wash and steralise boom

I have them and I just do the whole feed in the bottle, it's less hassle and quicker. I definitely wouldn't follow everything the HV say though, I've seen 3 and they all guve different advice regarding the same things

We use the rapid cool during the day, during the night & when out the house. He’s on 4oz feeds so add 1oz of hot boiled water into the bottle, add the formula powder & then in the rapid cool add 3oz of hot boiled water and cool it down that way and then once cooled add to the hot shot in the bottle. Perfect temp bottle every time! And literally takes 2 mins!

Thanks girls. Yeah i know a few mams which are doing it the hot shot way and had no issues at all, i would have been doing it that way myself until the HV said that. She was basically fully against any prep machines and said this hot shot with the rapid cool sounded exactly the same. Iv been worrying all afternoon about it. x

@Rachel we started with the Tommee tippee prep machine as our first child had no issues with it, but this time around it really affected our boys tummy & made him very sick and constipated. Since doing it the hot shot way with the rapid cool he’s a lot happy, less sick & no more constipation. I think with a lot of parenting things, you just go with what ever you want to do and what ever works best for your baby & family x
