It’s normal. Adding powder to the water adds volume. It’s still 6oz x
This might be a stupid question but if we are going by liquid intake (based on baby’s weight) then I should be following what the bottle is marking the liquid at vs the amount I pressed on the machine, right? 6 oz may be 6 oz worth of formula, but my baby would be drinking nearly 190ml if she finished this bottle….(which is pretty much 7 oz if liquid)
No it is still 6 oz, the volume of water doesn't change just the volume of the mixture and your baby is only getting the nutrients from 6 scoops of formula still.
No you go by 6oz as it’s 6oz of water. It only looks more due to the powder x
Liquid volume is still volume so that doesn’t make sense 🤔 😂 increase in liquid would mean increase in volume… which is why the measurement on the bottle measures liquid to be at 190ml (looks 200ml in picture but it’s foam) not 170ml (6 oz)….
If bottle is measuring 190ml of liquid and she drinks it all then she’s drank 190ml of liquid, not 170ml (6 oz)… the bottle doesn’t change in measurement so it’s the only consistent standsrd to measure how much they’re taking in? I’m not trying to be rude but just confused and trying to make sense of this 😂
Nutrients wise it may still be equivalent to 6 oz but volume = liquid= 7oz. I log baby’s daily intake in ml which is why I need to measure that way so I can calculate appropriately based on her weight (150ml per kg)
Log it with how much water you use. Also can I ask where you got 150ml per kg from?
Water volume remains at 170ml, the other 20ml comes from the volume of the solid which is then suspended throughout the water to make the mixture. It still counts as 170ml and it is the nutrition that is the key part. @Heather-Jayde I think guidance says babies need 150-200 ml per kg of bodyweight in order to grow properly. I've seen it on the Pampers website if that counts as a reliable source 😂🤷
Whatever it reads, thats how much is it the bottle..... its as simple as that 😊
@Becky I've never heard of it, that's why I asked, I've always breastfed or gave expressed milk, my first had formula after 9 months by which point he was on 3 meals a days and maybe 2 bottles!! I just feed until they stop eating, same with expressed milk, currently baby has never had more than 120ml in a sitting! But has wayyy more than that guideline!
@Becky @Heather-Jayde my baby is under consultant care and I was advised that she must have 150ml for every kg she weighs and that is the average amount of milk she should be having a day, could have 30-40ml more or less and that would classify as normal
@Roxana my baby is also under consultant care and when we were actually in the hospital they just said feed as much as he will eat but at the time bare minimum was like 56ml. He's still small so his average following that guide would be like 20oz/600ml a day but is actually 28oz/840ml sometimes more. But idk if breastmilk is different to formula in that aspect.
It’s the displacement from adding in the formula. It happens when you make milk with water from a kettle too. It’s normal, don’t worry
