My LOs hair started curling only after a certain length.

This is true 😂😂

It might curl. I have a mixed baby too. He had straight hair to begin with but the sides have started curling up.

Hair is very short at the moment so just wait. Length brings curls. My little ones hair was straight for months then it started to have a wave when I brushed it. He now has little curls to his back. I say just wait for it

Yes totally normal 😁 all mixed babies are born with straight hair then the curls comes later ahha I’am mixed myself ( half Spanish half Caribbean ) I also had straight hair first and both of my kids the same ( their dad is Nigerian ) ☺️

He’s so cute 🥰🥰🥰 I agree with the other mamas maybe when his hair gets longer the curls will show. When my baby was a newborn his hair was straight and after a few months his hair got curlier. My son is half Arab and half African.

@Julia thank you!! I have both family having opinions on his hair 😂 my family seem happy his hair isn’t curly, whereas daddy’s mom is waiting desperately for the curls😂😂

@aluna amazing advice thank you!! She has so much hair wow❤️❤️

My daughter is English/Nigerian and had straight jet black hair at birth, a lot of it and it was straight for ages. In time it started getting longer and curly and now it’s brown and curly, she’s almost three. Saying that all babies are different. Your little one is absolutely gorgeous 🥰

@Rema thank you my love!! Im happy to wait and see 🥰🥰

@Bola thank you 🤩 it seems common for them is what I’m hearing! My mum really wants his hair to stay straight and I’m so ready to prove her wrong 😂 but like you say it’s a possibility! ❤️

@Lucie oh no 🤣no worries for me the problem was the skin color my daughter was so light white lighter than me myslef I’am not even fully white but mixed and the dad is fully African 😭😭her skin is more tanned now but she still very light I would say that she took on my side 😁anyway poeole always have something to say about mixed kids

@Julia I’ve just had a peak your babys are georgous hahah yes my son is very light too, they really do it’s sad isn’t it to be labelled by their appearance so early on 😩❤️

Obviously he’s not gona have straight hair, why would your mum/family want or even be thinking about that 🙄

Thanks you ❤️you son is very cute too and your right I know it’s annoying something like just let them be 😩

@Meghan because they are uneducated of course

All my kids hair got more curly as they got older. Length plays a role. I have 2 mixed kids and they all have different types of curls.

@Bonnie thanks my love 🥰🥰

@Charli so cute 🥰🥰🥰 it must be the case!! 🥰❤️

@Tereza oh wow!! Thank you so much I will definitely take Alunas advice. Beautiful baby ❤️❤️

My son’s hair was straight until about 1.5 years old he is mixed! Now it’s a big curly ball haha

@Kaitlyne cute!!!

My little one had Straight hair, I think his curls came in around 7/8 months. He’s Welsh/Congolese xx

@Bonnie coconut oil’s molecules are too big to be absorbed by the skin or hair. plus it’s comedogenic. which means it will clog your pores and hair follicles. leading to ingrown hairs, infected follicles, and painful extractions of that build up. plus it can cause dandruff. coconut oil just sits on the surface and gives the illusion that it’s doing its job, but over time it’s clear that it is causing dryness, frizz, breakage, and just fragile dry hair. grapeseed oil is a much better alternative bc it is such a light oil. the molecules are so much smaller and are easily able to cling to the water molecules and provide the moisture you’re looking for. it’s outdated research that says coconut oil is beneficial. there’s been more research and studies that show it actually does more harm than good that’s why some brands are starting to use rosemary and mango and castor oils. and grapeseed as replacements. bc they actually do their job by being small enough to be absorbed.

@Bonnie like i stated, it give the appearance for a while that it’s doing what you want it to, but after a while you’ll see your hair is less porous, and your scalp may become irritated and dry. i’d suggest to him to try switching to grapeseed oil with some add ins like castor and rosemary. that will help with growth as well as defining curls. even 4c hair can have some type of definition if you use the right products. mielle has a line specifically for type 4 hair that i love!! and i use it on my older clients. like ages 10+ it gives amazing results. also tell him to stay away from brands like cantù and shea moisture. they’re owned by larger companies who bought them out and changed their formula. they’re extremely harsh and just don’t do a good job at maintaining the health of their hair or scalp. the scalp is super important bc a healthy scalp means healthy hair. mielle and camille rose are the brands i use on the adult clients i take both affordable and amazing quality

@Sally thank you sally 🩷

My sons hair was VERY straight then he got one tiny curl at about 7 montjs and now has a head full of curls so be very patient youre going to have to be 😭😭

@H <3 thank you xx

@aluna thanks, I will look into those. I've never used Cantu. Think we tried it once and it was useless. I found a brand of shampoo/conditioner that he says is the only one that doesn't dry his hair but it's not available in Canada so when we run out I'll have to go to the states to get it. It is expensive but I've been able to get them at an auction. Can't remember the name but it's a pink bottle.

@Bonnie i believe mielle is available in canada in walmarts. plus online they ship to canada. if he’s willing to give it a try! even if it just uses it when he runs out of the stuff he really likes. it’s affordable so it’s not gonna break the bank

@aluna thank you 😊. I didn't even know there were hair types until recently, lol. I asked my husband and he said he never heard of it either.

It’s trial and error with hair products it seems as every hair type is different. What works for some might not for your little ones. We have tried so many since we started this journey. Currently using Carol’s daughter (shampoo and conditioner) and it seems okay as well as Mielle leave in conditioner 🥰

You'll have to wait and see

My daughter had super straight hair until she turned 1. Now it’s curly and looks a little like Shirley Temple.

That’s funny both my kids came out different my son came out with so much straight hair my daughter came out bald and took a while no she has a full head of curly long hair

@Diane 🇬🇧 can I see how it is now! What a cutie

@Diane 🇬🇧 this is a great picture!!! Beautiful

@Tim Tims wow how interesting! She’s definitely still got plenty of it! 🩷

@Lucie your little man is gorgeous. 💙

My sons hair was very oyibo until 12 months old when it really started to grow and now he has a texture very in between but the curls sit tight and it looks like my 8 week olds hair will do the same - tho I've seen so many different types of hair on mixed kiddies so it's hard to tell - I still keep there heads moisturised - it's good practice regardless the texture :)

Be patient. Both of my babies were born with straight hair. Their hair didn’t really grow in fully until 3 years old. Lol. My son has 4b hair, my daughter has 2a or 2b. So wildly different! If I based both of my kids hair on photos at this age both my guesses would be wrong.

Baby is black and Mexican and his hair curls and is crazy lol. Especially after a bath. He has straight hair first few months.

@Jessica thank you!!! What a cute boy!!

@Catherine it’s really quite amazing isn’t it!! Thank you for your advice 🥰

@Mia hahah brilliant!!! Thank you 🩷
