Travelling abroad - Car seat -Doona

We’re about to book our 1st Holiday with the baby. Of course whilst travelling you want the baby to be safe. Has anyone experienced travelling with their baby? Can the Doona car seat/pram be taken on flights? We will carry the baby in a harness most of the time, but thinking for safe travel in taxis etc. Any advice on this and generally travelling with a baby? He will be 5 months when we hope to travel in Feb - thank you in advance 👶🤗🫶

I used the doona for a city break where I knew we'd be in the car a lot. Its amazing! Esp if your baby likes motion to settle. We now use it a lot in the UK too.

Wont go in overhead. They take it at the gate & u get back at luggage collection - this was totally fine for us

We fly back and forth to Ireland to see my family and bought a doona for travelling. It’s amazing! In and out of taxis and people’s cars is so easy. It doesn’t go on the plane but is left at the plane steps and picked up there again when you get off. Also saves boot space to fit your luggage because no pram wheels have to go in there.

@Cici thank you! May I ask which airline you travelled with. Do you pre pay for it to go in the cargo? And collect at the carousel with your luggage. Thanks so much, really helpful xx

@Ciara thank you! We too are back and forth to Ireland as partners Irish. But so far we’ve taken the ferry and packed everything but the kitchen sink 😂👶 Which airline did you use and do you have to let them know you will be brining the Doona / pre pay? Thanks

We fly British airways. It’s free to take as comes with baby’s ticket. When you check your bag in at airport desk they’ll tag it up for you to drop at the door. It’s super easy. We are going on holiday in feb and plan to bring the Doona it really makes things so easy. We got ours second hand off Facebook marketplace too - there’s lots on there.

Thank so much Ciara. I have a Doona, my sister luckily bought me one as a gift and he’s not been out if it since he was born, prams barley been used it’s a god send isn’t it! … i wasn’t sure re airline rules. Thanks for explaining x
