Permanently fixed
I’m pretty sure it’s safer to have a newborn in an infant car seat that usually comes off the base. The group 0+/1 car seats that you can supposedly use from birth (eg Joie spin 360 and similar) don’t usually offer a great fit when they’re only tiny. I would have a look at one of the car seat safety groups on Facebook as they can offer really good advice x
We had the joie ispin with my son and he fit great from birth, it also meets all the safety standards so I’d def do your own research. There was no problem with it no detaching we just carried him out to our car after leaving the hospital. If they wanted to come and check our set up they could have but they didn’t offer and they didn’t need to x
It also really depends on your hospital as ours won't let you carry them out, they prefer you to have an infant carrier x
The fixed ones are fine - my friend had one and the hospital just went to check that they actually had one in their car and then they were on their way! X
We have a joie 360 spin, so not one you can just carry out, so with my first we left in his buggy instead, midwives were happy with that :)
They will still let you take baby home. Midwife will walk you down to the car with baby in the cot. I didn’t this with my last baby in 2021.
Thank you everyone for the advice. I brought a car seat that comes off the base, just in case 😊
If it has a base doesn’t it detach from the base? Or is it permanently fixed in the car?
