Sterilising - Nuby rapid cool

Hot shot method just sadly isn’t working for me (making 6/7oz bottles) it’s taking too long to cool down and baby is loosing their head waiting for a bottle, so going to try use it as intended! How do people sterilise them? I’m worried with the Milton sterilising tablets the flask doesn’t hold enough water as the tablet needs 5L to work and they only hold about 250ml. Has anyone used the Milton sterilising liquid as a way of doing it? Is this safe to use? We have mam self sterilising bottles so don’t have any big unit to put the rapid cool in

I keep a flask of boiling water for the hot shot and I have the Nuby pre filled with boiled water so it’s already cool when I need it - hope that makes sense?

@Grace Collyer I thought about this, but then wasn’t sure I would weigh out the water measurements? I normally weigh the hot shot in the lid pour into bottle and then add the powder. If I then add the cooled water I won’t know how many MLS I’m adding as the hot shot + powder is a higher volume than the just hot shot (hope this makes sense)

I use a prep machine as well and so i just go by their measurements. Mine always total up to the same ML, I might just put in slightly more of the hot than cooled when making them, but the milk is always room/warm temperature anyway. It’s hard to explain by typing but hopefully that sort of makes sense! 😂

I have a container that holds 4.5L, i put a cap full of Milton liquid in, and it’s in cold water - it sterilises for 24hrs! So i change it every morning after the first bottle - so much easier! Keep it in for - 15mins and it’s sterilised x To make my bottles, i just measure oz in baby bottle, pour the hot water into the nuby, add formula and shake/swirl, keep it moving and it will cool quicker and soon as it changes to green ready to go. Mine literally take couple of mins, my little girl goes every 3hrs, so I’ll boil the kettle make her bottle, and then get her changed and then i can gove her bottle straight away xx

For a 6oz bottle I would use (for example) 2oz hot water, add the formula, then add 4oz of cold water on top using the lines in the bottle to help. So if with the formula it's 2.75oz I'd top up to 6.75oz x

I use hot shot method but without the nuby. Fresh boiled water either from kettle or pre poured in the flask if we out then I have a bottle of cooled boiled water. I pour 2.5 hot water, add formula and then 4.5 of cooked boiled. Shake and it’s perfect x

You can order the Milton tablets and 5l tub with lid on Amazon, so easy we just leave it on the kitchen side and change every morning

To sterilise my rapid cool. I wash in hot soapy water, rinse and then fill to the brim with cold water, drop in a quarter of a Milton tablet and put a 15 minute timer on. Poor the water out and you’re good to go X
