Feeling isolated

Anyone feeling a little isolated? Prob struggling because of the hormones but it’s my first pregnancy after a couple of failed ivf attempts (third time lucky). Didn’t tell anyone this time round and it’s hard worrying about mc and also nervous about what’s to come and what’s happening in my body. Work from home a lot and just feeling disconnected from friends after the ivf journey and now not telling people. How’s everyone else doing mentally?

I know what you mean! I just need to talk about this to everyone but I’m nervous because it’s so early… Only a few more weeks before you can share this with everyone and feel supported 🩷

Hi Nat, I’m exactly the same. 5 weeks pregnant after our 3rd round of ivf. The other times a lot of friends knew what was happening, so to give them the bad news was heartbreaking. So this time it’s just husband and parents who know- to make it easier emotionally. I agree it’s very isolating. Im avoiding talking to people in case they ask (rubbish liar!), and I also wfh alone which adds so the isolation. Xx

I think maybe just confiding in one friend might be a good idea, as currently I’m just in my own head thinking and googling everything x

I’m 6+4 with my first (surprise) baby and feeling really isolated also! Only my partner and I know and we want to keep it that way until we go for our first private scan next Thursday. It’s nerve racking isn’t it, worrying about every twinge of pain and wondering whether everything is okay🥹 I also work from home and am isolating myself quite a bit because I’m getting a lot of nausea and don’t want to go out and about and be sick! It’s really hard, I’m sending you my love 🩷💙 when are you hoping to tell your closest family and friends?

I have told my parents and my closest friend. Naively I didn’t realise the mc stats and wasn’t quite prepared that this phase would be no less anxiety inducing than trying to get pregnant in the first place. I probably need to make more plans to see friends but as Jenny said it’s hard when you have to lie about stuff - ivf was always a bit topic.

@Nat sending you hugs. I don’t have experience with IVF but can only imagine how hard it must be. Do you have any scans or check-ups booked in to see how baby is doing? I know it’s hard not to worry no matter how much people tell you not to. This anxiety won’t go on forever, you’ll get through it!🤍

@Georgia thanks. I have a scan a week on Monday with my ivf clinic then I’m passed onto NHS for the standard scans offered. So I’m just hoping they say things are still progressing…

How far along are you @Nat ?

Good luck with the scan! X

@Jenny 5w5d. Feels so long to go hey

Totally… I’m only 5 weeks today and am not having a scan till 7w5d. I haven’t actually done a pregnancy test (only the blood test at the hospital), as I don’t want to keep taking multiple tests to try and see what’s going on with the line strength! Fml, it’s going to be a long wait!

@Jenny were your clinic happy with your hormone levels? Prob best not to keep taking tests. Guess we can only keep ourselves busy and engage in some proper self care x

Yep, the clinic were happy so no need for retesting. Now I just have to wait- and see. Yes self care, what kind of things are you doing? I seem to just be working and sleeping!

I’ve been trying to meditate for 10 mins a day (easier said than done) with the Calm app, getting out for lunchtime walks in nature, journalling. All seems to help a little I hope. So tempted to listen to start listening to pregnancy podcasts but trying to refrain from getting too invested yet so I’m back on true crime although thinking I should find something to make me smile so if you know any good comedy ones let me know!
