I am on the patch! You change it once a week. I’ve always had horrible periods (to the point of passing out) and its the only kind that actually allows me to live a normal life during my period.
@Jordyn that’s such a relief my NP suggested the copper iud but I was gonna talk to my Ob next week
@Kassi I thought about this! Some people were saying you could have a skin reaction to it but if I don’t do the iud I might try this
@Andreena that’s a good idea! I was nervous at first but it was no big deal at all! I went in thinking I was going to get a copper one, but decided on mirena. The copper one is great, but it can make periods longer, heavier, and more painful is what mine told me!
I have a nexplanon it’s amazing no period no symptoms and it’s good for 3 years
I’ve been on depo and love it
I got an IUD a few weeks ago and I didnt feel a thing 🤷🏼♀️
@Becky I’ve heard it could cause weight gain/ crazy mood swings did you experience that? I think my mom and sister not necessarily went crazy crazy but crazy with their attitudes lol
I’ve always done iud, it didn’t hurt. This is my third one.
Natural family planning/condoms. Just got my period back so I’m back to tracking again. I had an iud before pregnancy and it sucked to put in, but I also hadn’t given birth. I’ve heard it’s easier right after birth bc the cervix is still softened. I loved it. I don’t do hormones so it was a good solution for me.
Getting the IUD doesn’t hurt if they do it during your period because your cervix is already softened and slightly open. There is stuff to know with IUDs as I am an IUD person and I think it’s smart to be aware… 1- Copper overtime often causes much more heavy and painful periods. A lot of women get it taken out once their periods get too painful. 2- hormonal IUDs affect a lot of women differently, but once I actually mentioned my experience online, I found a lot had the same first 3 months. The first 2-3 months, you can have intermittent cramping and spotting. For me the cramping/ spotting was daily. Then suddenly I didn’t have a period at all for the next 3 years til I had it taken out. It didn’t hurt at all to have it inserted. It hurt to have it removed because I didn’t do it during my period.
I take my temp every morning and check my cervical fluid. You'll hear all kinds of stories about "that doesn't work," but it's literally letting your body tell you exactly what's going on, rather than messing with your cycles. It's so simple and you just use condoms during the week or so that's not safe.
@Kenedi I think if you advise people on that method, it’s best for the OP to know that this includes the 5 days before you ovulate. I know you know this, but for the OP, the day you ovulate is last chance since the egg dies 12-24 hours after it’s released. So if you take this method, add a safety day at the front end. Aka 6 days before. Since sperm can live in your fallopian tubes for 5 days.
i’m on the ring!!! i love it!!!

I got the mirena (idk how to spell it) last month and have literally been bleeding since. Idk my obgyn keeps saying it happens but it seems a bit excessive
@Karin true! That's what I meant by the week or so it's not safe, but thanks for adding that clarification. I'm open to questions if anyone would want to message me and ask. And the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" is very informative.
I had the copper IUD for something like 8 years. Its implantation was the most painful thing I had ever experienced until child birth, and it made my periods worse and more painful. So...it varies person to person
I just got an IUD today and it didn’t hurt at all. I think it’s overhyped on social media. I literally was about to ask my NP if she’d started yet when she said she was done.
