Buying things

Hi ladies - anyone who has started buying stuff or have previous children, where are you buying your stuff from ie Moses basket, pram etc. literally anything! Iv seen some clair de lune Moses baskets for quite cheap but seen a few people saying they aren’t great quality. But I also don’t want to spend a fortune 😂 any help would be appreciated xx

With my first the only thing I bought brand new was the pram/ travel system, new mattresses & stuff like bottles & toiletries. We didn’t know what we were having so everything was neutral & I bought the next to me & Moses basket (Little green sheep ones are lovely) from marketplace then clothes from Vinted! Saved a fortunate & honestly they aren’t in anything long enough to spend a fortune x

I bought my next to me cot at 8 weeks 😅 I’ve got most of her clothing for the first few months too. 16 weeks today and just started looking at travel systems and Moses baskets etc

It's an incredibly exciting time, so get the things you really want, I know we did first time around. We learned that you don't need to spend loads though, to get the things you want. Check FB marketplace for things like your moses basket - I want one this time and I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for a secondhand Little Green Sheep one. Mamas and Papas have sales on constantly as well, so it's worth keeping an eye out there, especially for your pushchair/travel system. And don't rule out Aldi baby events, honestly you can get some really lovely things for an absolute bargain xx

For my first baby I used the bassinet part of my pram for the Moses basket in the living room 😊 just got a stand for it. So meant I got loads of use of it!

2nd time mum, only thing I'd recommend to buy new is the car seat from a resputtable/specialist supplier (not Halfords, smyths, etc). Moses baskets go so cheap on FB, I'd just buy a new mattress for it - they barely end up using it so don't spend loads. Same for a next to me - just again, replace the mattress. Wouldn't even bother buying a cot or cot bed until you know the kind of sleeper they are 😂 people give away clothes free or super cheap on FB and vinted and in the first year they grow out of clothes SO FAST so don't waste money on it!

Aw thank you for all this advise ladies it’s really helped!! I don’t wanna spend loads as I know they won’t use it for long but want everything to be nice so I’ll look out for some bargains. Thank you xxx

@Jacqueline that's a really good idea! It's what I used as well, but I didn't have the stand and think that would make it work even better. Though just looked at the price of the stands that go with our pushchair bassinet, and I may as well buy a moses basket 😧😂

With my first I was 12-14 weeks when I started buying. This one I’m going to wait until October time. I want the nursery to be set up completely first

Facebook marketplace for literally everything ⭐ we've bought the ENTIRE nursery for less than £600 so I'm chuffed with that! Some things like breast pumps and car seats are non negotiable. Another thing I'm sticking to "babies have been around longer than consumerism" so I'm buying on a need by need basis as much as I can to avoid unnecessary clutter and spending
