What do flights do with a stroller if it doesn’t fit in overhead compartment?

Worried about the size of stroller. Can’t really afford the pricey “cabin approved” strollers, but will be buying one that’s more lightweight than current.

I've traveled with a stroller and always check at the gate free of charge. I think that's typical for a regular sized stroller but double check with the airline.

As Chantel said you can just check in any pram or buggy for free at the desk, or you can usually also take it to the airplane steps with you if you want. I’m not sure why there’s a sudden popularity for these “cabin strollers” because they just cause more stress, effort and take away your luggage space… just take your normal pram and check it in for free! (Check the airlines children luggage policy first but in UK you can take 2 items for free)

@Natasha If checking in the stroller at desk, how do you go about transporting baby? We have 3 connecting flights so ideally we wouldn’t do that…

I always use a baby carrier, I’ve done both ways and found baby carrier easier. But you can usually take the buggy with you to the plane if you ask at the check in desk (in the UK you can anyway) then the staff will take it for you and put it in the hold

@Natasha my little one will be one at the time, she’s 8 months at the moment and already getting heavy in it 🙈 would you still recommend a baby carrier? Sorry… it’s my first time travelling with my little one abroad and I feel like a nervous wreck! I have no idea what to consider and worried I’ll be a right t*t in a trance. Xx

I’ve used it up until not too long ago and my son is now 18 months, but it really depends, if you’re not used to carrying her in it it might be too much for you, and also depends how many bags you have to carry with you?

Check with your airline. You should be able to gate check it.
