Changing a baby boy

I’m a first time mum and was just wondering how to properly clean my baby boys private parts? He’s not going to be circumcised is there certain things I need to do? Sorry Im just so worried!

Nothing special you need to do, don't try to pull back his foreskin as it's not supposed to do that yet and you will hurt him. Just wipe/bathe normally 😊

Yeah what I was told is to wipe the same way you would if wiping off their fingers like just pull down

Nothing special you need to do! Just gently wipe the whole area and make sure you get under the penis and scrotum as sometimes poop can get up there. No issue with being uncircumcised, don’t try to pull back the foreskin or anything like that!

Never pull it back, when changing wipe like normal and in the bath I just use a wash cloth with warm soapy water to wash. I was so nervous too, I hadn’t known anyone who had an intact boy! Nurses at the hospital were also very helpful to my husband and I, so don’t be afraid to ask questions!

Always wipe his dinky first or with a fresh wipe for a poop I like to wipe as much poop off with the diaper as I pull it down then I roll him to his side wipe up the poop on the most back side so I can lay him down without poop going everywhere then I get a clean wipe for his dinky make sure the get the " Bikini line" or beside the pouch very popular spot for sweat build up. And last but not least keep paper towel near by ALWAY peak to make sure hes done peeing before changing diaper! Oh and stock up on rash cream!

Put a wipe under his belly button to incourage him to pee before you pull his diaper off. Less fountain accidents that way. And when finishing diapering make sure he's pointed down so he doesn't go out the top of the diaper

Great advice here already! Just wanted to say, take a deep breath and relax, it’ll come easier than it’s feeling right now so don’t be nervous! I felt odd at first, didn’t want to hurt him in any way, but there isn’t too much you need to do differently to how you would clean yourself. The main things I pay attention with my little one are to check for cleaning in his creases around scrotum, and to release his nappy but then place it back loosely over for a few moments as he often wees when first exposed. Holding his ankles together in a frog position helps to stop him kicking and also gives you really clear access to all his folds to give a good clean. Also don’t be alarmed by baby erections, they just happen!

Thank you for asking this! I'm having a boy as my first, and I was wondering this as well!

We went to get a consultation with a pediatric Urologist. His foreskin won’t start to separate from the head until age 3 and will continue to separate until puberty. They need to start cleaning under the foreskin as it separates. Do not assume they can wait til puberty. If they get a yeast infection, it will tighten the foreskin very painfully. But you don’t have to worry about that til age 3 at earliest. So for now, just wipe the penis clean as a whole, as well as, underneath and the sides of the balls. If you see anything that looks like cottage cheese, that is yeast so make sure to wipe that away. Unless you use diaper rash cream in the area and think it’s the cream.

I’ve never even thought of pulling foreskin back🙈 thought it was common knowledge to not. All these comments are great advice! Also Don’t forget the creases between the legs and the private area. These need pulling to the side and wiping. I wiped with water and cotton balls when was newborn but now just use baby wipes. (Even baths don’t get to them creases) and they can get very very sore if left. Don’t be worried, you’ll smash it! Everything seems so much harder before you’re actually experiencing it 💙💙
