My clinic said having a full bladder really isn't much of an issue just to go to the toilet when you arrive and have a couple of glasses of water. I think it depends on if the clinic is using ultrasound to do the transfer.
Mine didn't really specify, just to not be uncomfortable. Annoyingly I needed a number 2 just before transfer 😂 I was necking water in my nightgown waiting to go through 🤦🏻♀️
My bladder took over the scan because it was so full. 800ml en route is recommended, I had a panic cup when I arrived too 🤭
I drank a litre an hour before and it was too much. I ended up being moved to the end of the list rather than the start, and they let me have half a wee bit wanted me to drink more. My bladder was so full it was pushing the speculum out
I think for most people, somewhere between 300-500ml is enough but…just to present an alternative perspective, I have an anatomical structure which makes it really difficult for the team to get the catheter through for transfer unless I am full to absolute bursting - we’re talking 3 litres full. I didn’t know this until after a transfer was abandoned, I had a hysteroscopy and we did a successful mock so, just try your best guys, if it’s too full they’ll ask you to empty some and if it’s too empty they’ll send you out to try and fill up a bit more. Try not to panic or blame yourself - they are absolutely operating on averages and you don’t know what you will need for your body until you’ve done it a few times, and hopefully you’ll only need to do it once! Good luck everyone.
Wow thank you everyone, I didn’t expect so many responses! I’m taking on board that 1 litre is probably excessive so will go more like 500ml and they can tell me to drink more if I have to!
Mine told me 300ml - 1Ltr seems alot.
I did 500ml this morning at it was fine! They didn’t even comment on how full etc, my view was better to top up if you have to!
My clinic said have a ‘comfortably full bladder.’ Which I didn’t understand as I have no reference for what that would feel like! I downed a 500ml bottle before we drove 25mins to the clinic and was uncomfortably full after about a 10min wait. Had a mini wee (nurses advice) and then during the transfer the doctor said my bladder was huge 🤣🤣. I was never told a specific amount to drink before x
My clinic also told me 1 litre, my bladder was too full and made my morning so uncomfortable. I think 1 litre is far too much. They ended up allowing me to empty out a lot (not everything) cause I couldn’t keep it in and then did I did a scan to check my bladder. It was still really full. So I think half a litre is perfect. You really want to present for the transfer and not stressed about emptying your bladder during the procedure haha. In any case you do a scan when you get to the clinic to see if your bladder is full enough, if it’s not they will give you more water to drink (it doesn’t take that long for your bladder to fill)
